Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building Glenaire with Fairhaven Homes 41Aug 23, 2016 9:51 pm We had 5 when Metricon did the soil test, unless I missed some, the grass was pretty long it was like a jungle. Re: Building Glenaire with Fairhaven Homes 42Sep 05, 2016 2:20 pm wow there's so much more standard inclusion with these guys compared with Metricon! Re: Building Glenaire with Fairhaven Homes 43Sep 15, 2016 2:54 pm dulie wow there's so much more standard inclusion with these guys compared with Metricon! Yes there is, very happy we made the change. Re: Building Glenaire with Fairhaven Homes 44Sep 15, 2016 2:54 pm Tender booked in, 3 weeks away! Woohoo Re: Building Glenaire with Fairhaven Homes 45Sep 15, 2016 2:59 pm Woooo exciting! Your land is ready yes? They told us contract 2 weeks after tender then about 5 weeks to get permits etc sorted and to start the build straight away so you should be starting in about 2 or so months yay! Re: Building Glenaire with Fairhaven Homes 46Sep 15, 2016 10:57 pm Yep land is ready! So excited to get moving, this process has taken a lot longer than I thought it would especially since we changed builders. It will be worth it in the end though as this house is so much better. Building Glenaire with Fairhaven Homes 47Oct 06, 2016 6:47 pm We had our tender today and Site costs have added an extra $20k to our costs! Upgraded slab at $2920 and over 15k of screw piles . This is on class M soil with a 10-15cm site scrape. We are a bit over budget at the moment so we may need to remove things just waiting to hear back from the broker. On a plus, we should be on site in 6 weeks! Re: Building Glenaire with Fairhaven Homes 48Oct 06, 2016 9:44 pm How much did you budget for site costs? Looking good for a pre Christmas slab. Re: Building Glenaire with Fairhaven Homes 50Oct 07, 2016 9:15 am Oh no!! So sorry I never got back to you about our soil.. It's been one horrible month! Ours was also class M but our upgraded slab was $4500 and piles were $11500. They said ours was due to the backfill used as it was mostly sand and soil and they needed to get down to clay (hence the screw piles)... So annoying they don't tell you before tender. Seems kinda ** to just Spring it on you. I have friends building in Berwick waters and opted for fixed at 19k on a completely flat block so I don't think ours was too bad considering our 1.3m fall but still.. Super frustrating right at the end.. Do you have a contract date? Ours is Thursday! We should actually end up getting to site right around the same time I think! Will be great to watch them both go up together! They have said 2 weeks until contract for us. We should be building at the same time, hopefully have a slab for Christmas. It will be good to be building in good weather, that should speed things along for sure. Building Glenaire with Fairhaven Homes 54Oct 08, 2016 12:35 pm Updated plans

I think your change from M to Fairhaven is a wise choice. Re: Building Glenaire with Fairhaven Homes 59Oct 12, 2016 6:01 pm Kat_1025 That storage area is such a fantastic idea.. Plus maximises the use of the land and gets rid of the need for a shed!! Amazing Thanks it wasn't cheap but I think it's worth it. Waiting on the broker now, he's given the tender to the bank and they are ordering a valuation on the land as we are using our equity. Should have an answer on Monday or Tuesday. Fingers crossed it all goes okay. This is the part I hate the most... waiting for approvals We are looking to do a KDR with fairhaven homes, Have seen plenty of good reviews about them pre construction and plenty of negative reviews about them during contruction… 0 18048 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74751 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
