But fingers crossed! +1 Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Bel's new house - Roof - tick 782Jun 03, 2011 12:26 pm Hi Bel, This long wait is beyond belief! I don't know if this will help, but here goes. My neighbour is building with C.....lier homes and they started in November 2010, they are only putting up the gyprock now, they also had months with no work done. He told me they have trouble getting trades because al lot have gone to other states where there is a lot of work. The bloke who finally retiled our shower (18months wait) told us that trades will not do a job unless they have been paid for the previous one because they are scared the company might go bankrupt. I think everything is tightening up and we are the only losers. just keep the pressure up. I think this forum is a good one and I am sure they know what is being said. Perhaps this will put pressure on them. Here's hoping T. Re: Bel's new house - Roof - tick 783Jun 03, 2011 1:22 pm Thanks T for still following my exhausting build! Interesting about your neighbour. I know a while back DH read an article about how the Sydney building market is at snails pace compared to our Victorian and Qld cousins. I'm sure the article was posted on H1 somewhere. But still, there are surely enough trades to go around? Well I went past the block, and the scaffolding that was packed onsite has been taken away. We might just be on track for Monday's work *crosses fingers* Still not in. Don't ask!? I actually have some more pictures of the blackheaths with the scaffolding down, I hear you on the oven. Only 1 of our 4 stove elements is still working. Except for us we are the landlords, so we can't even complain to anyone. We just want to knock this goddam house right down! (said in tune to ooopps, can't remember the song title). So if you are renting - won't your landlord fix the oven? ps: I am intrigued. I am going to ask you about blackheaths on Saturday. SunshineT's Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=34585 Designs start: 4/12/09 DA: 5/7/11 Demo: 22/12/11 Slab: 24/2/12 Keys: 31/8/12 Re: Bel's new house - Roof - tick 798Jun 05, 2011 9:22 am He finally fixed the oven T but it was a long story. Had the repairman out who advised that it wasn't worth fixing - too old, too many things wrong with it. I advised that we were tenants, and said I'll get the landlord on the phone. Anyway, I knew he would be painful, so I kept my mobile on speaker so I could hear what he said to the repairman. Sure enough - "mate just replace the element" Repairman kept explaining it was all stuffed, so I piped up and said you are not listening to repairman - it needs to be replaced - element and fan and everything does not work. Well he then knew he was caught out - so it was WW2! We ended up at R/E agent with calls/emails and threats to Dept of FT as we were also waiting the repair of the back sliding door since Xmas! Had enough - he refuses to fix things but we are over it. DH called him and gave him an earful - which he later apologised for the language - but not that fact that he has a responsibility to fix things as they arise, not when he feels like it. As for the Blackheaths - you won't like them!! They are just a dark brick!!!! Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: Bel's new house - Roof - tick 799Jun 07, 2011 11:52 pm Hi Bel, It never rains it pours, as if you didn't have enough to worry about with your build! Any news? I'll just keep checking and I wish I new a "hurry up with the build' dance. By the way I can't find the Westminster official thread anymore, has it been posted somewhere else? thanks T. Re: Bel's new house - Roof - tick 800Jun 08, 2011 6:36 am Yeah, I tried to view it too & something has happened, it keeps telling me I'm not authorised to view it? Yes well there solution is to blame everyone else while I a 65yr old woman with major medical problems have to just continue to boil water and wash myself in a bucket… 2 16019 If you make sure all taps inside and out are turned off, what does the water meter show if you leave it for a while. 2 20240 13 6636 |
