Hi Bel, I have come in late to this thread, does this wall get rendered or is there a big cleaning job coming. The bricks are laid well.

Great design. Which Westminster did you say it was (and I will go check out the original to see the changes you have made)? What an ordeal you have been through the past 2 years - phew for finally getting this far! Looking forward to following your build. Yes

But at that stage I think I was talking about the frame not bricks! Anyway we fo have a fully framed house with windows and sliding doors in, with bricking nearly all done

No render for us - it is all face brick. Guess we are a little old fashioned

Glad you think the bricks are well laid, we thought that too, but as we are first time builders didn't know!!! Yes a massive cleaning job ahead!

How are you? It has been ages and no I have not dropped off the face of this earth! So good to see that the house is coming along so well. Even now those Blackheaths are looking amazing. I have spent the last three weeks on my own journey...it's called the 'lets renovate and uncover issues that I did not even know were there journey' LOL! aka where the hell does all this dust come from!
Anyway, will drop you a PM soon but wanted to say that your place is looking great. I have been off the forums for some time but I will be keeping an eye on your build. It's going to be awesome.

I was going to go blackheaths 1st opt
Or blue nova then I settled for render understand I settled cause I didn't want the maintenance render gives you
But the pic in my head took over so more work for Pedro
I love your house I'm glad u got that brick I can imagine what mine would have looked like

I love your plans very cool
We both were smart enough to get cubs in the stairs

but yes the flooring will be screwed down and sanded after roof goes on.

Yep I'm loving the blackheaths, and yep one of the reasons we didn't get render was the maintenance!

Oh and the cupboard under the stairs is for when the kids are naughty ::stop::

Just joking. Maybe.

Good news is that the brickies were back on site yesterday (thank goodness Mondays rain stopped), so I really do think that the bricking will be completed by the end of the week. *Fingers crossed*

I have already told DH to call the builder to pre empt them finishing and make sure they have a trade for us on Monday. Not sure if that will happen but you gotta try right? I'm thinking roof tiles/gutters etc will be delivered next, and in reality there isn't room on the block to put the materials until the brick/sand/bricking stuff gets out of the way.

WIll keep you posted - oh and once it's done I will get pictures! And I will get them off the camera!

Heya, don't forget to check the floors after the sanding. Sometimes the sanding can strip off the head off the top of the screw. THis can be a serious problem if the flooring is nailed - squeaky floors. Maybe not a major drama if screws are used but still not ideal if the screw is compromised! :roll:

Yay Bel! great that more progress.

Definitely can't wait to see more pics. Just had a real close look at your plans to the original design - I can see the changes you have made to the entry area, rearranging the position of linen cupboards (one converted to a Broom), different entry shape and moving garage, switching positions of kitchen (was that because of location of sunshine?) and upstairs smaller WIR and no linen cupboard in Computer area. But I actually think your design result is better - somehow a bit tidier / cleaner lines. Well done!

As for Westminster's 7 month slow progress... well, we are still looking to switch to them from Masterton. All builders have delays I think...

I am definitely watching your build closely

Ok well listen up let's not get carried away here
I can't remember how many kids you have but with my 6 here is some experienced wisdom for ya!

The cub under stairs NO GOOD!
if some one comes they'll hear em so use the cub for what it's meant for

So this is what u do and yes I have done this

Go upstairs when your floor is screwed in and roof tiles on

Look for a real good possi for a good sized man hole but in this case kid hole

This hole should be directly beside space in the roof big enough to move under and around freely

Then goto your builder and tell him to screw more yellow tongue in

Guaranteed no one will hear em
