Did you have to fight to make that happen? The only option to eliminate quad was a $25k upgrade of real floor! Yeah we got told this too, we were given a heap of unpainted skirts to do ourselves post handover. It took about 3 days and a $60 tin of paint to do the entire house, minus the carpet areas. Totally worth it in our eyes! quads were just not an option. ( we also had quite a bit left over) Good luck! Re: We are building VANCOUVER 33 with PORTER DAVIS 263May 31, 2017 12:34 pm Hey Liz/Fademan, sorry to ask a stupid question. Are quads and skirting the same? When we told them we were doing our own flooring, the tender presenter suggested that we upgrade our skirting to 92mm in lieu of the standard 67mm so that we can still see the skirting after we install our flooring. It was $348 so we upgraded to 92mm skirting.. Re: We are building VANCOUVER 33 with PORTER DAVIS 264May 31, 2017 2:11 pm Sgene85 Hey Liz/Fademan, sorry to ask a stupid question. It was $348 so we upgraded to 92mm skirting.. No they are not the same thing. ( We too upgraded our skirts to to the larger ones 'lambs tongue' i believe, to ensure the width would cover the gap between the floorboard and wall, and yes highly suggested to do that, One thing were weren't a fan of was the oddly matched quad that is in all of the displays. Its the thin piece of wood that joins the board to the skirt. The only way to avoid that was to lay the skirts once the floor was down. Otherwise if your laying the floor post handover you have no choice but to use a quad. I'd def talk to the company doing your floors to see what they use and if you really like the look of what they use. I personally hated it and wanted to do everything to avoid it. Re: We are building VANCOUVER 33 with PORTER DAVIS 267May 31, 2017 2:26 pm Because we are getting laminate flooring through PD we will end up with the quad but our sales consultant showed us a pic of another client who painted it white to match the skirting board. I thought this looked way better so we are planning on doing that. - View my blog at www.waldorfgrangebuild.wordpress.com Re: We are building VANCOUVER 33 with PORTER DAVIS 269May 31, 2017 2:33 pm Waldorf_Grange_Build Because we are getting laminate flooring through PD we will end up with the quad but our sales consultant showed us a pic of another client who painted it white to match the skirting board. Not using PD now as they came up too expensive overall. Going with local builder who has no issue doing the floorboards and skirting boards properly. They called it lazy building throwing down quads. Re: We are building VANCOUVER 33 with PORTER DAVIS 271May 31, 2017 2:39 pm lol I'm soo sorry Liz. These things are all new to me. Is it easy to install? Should I also tell PD not to install the skirting? Did you paint the skirting to match the walls or match your flooring? So you don't have any quad on? I Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ don't be sorry i'm stiring and correct no quads for us ( just around our kitchen island bench) t wasn't too bad, we painted them all then installed. My father in law and step dad spent maybe a 2 days, cutting, nailing them and then puttying holes. Its probably quick if you know what your doing and have the proper tools. We painted first, then still need to retouch ( of course something that has to be done and we haven't yet done) they look great though. We actually didn't match the paint, we thought we had it similar but it turned out to be alot brighter. i don't think you can really tell that much though. Def have a think about it, consult your flooring mob and also speak to your SS when you meet about it. They will advise you about leaving the skirts for you to do, if you should chose that option. Re: We are building VANCOUVER 33 with PORTER DAVIS 273May 31, 2017 3:05 pm Haha! Thanks Liz. Thanks for the photo also. Makes sense now. It looks good, and cant really tell its a different colour! Love the flooring! Such a good colour. I'm starting to wonder whether our floor is too dark! So, in summary. If we get PD to install the skirting, we will need to install the PD quads if we're happy with them, or alternatively we can ask the mob installing our floors and see what quads they use and if we like the look of it.. If we dont want or like the look of quads, then we'll get PD to leave off skirts for us to do. Re: We are building VANCOUVER 33 with PORTER DAVIS 274May 31, 2017 3:37 pm Sgene85 Haha! Thanks Liz. Correct, if your doing your flooring external pd wont provide the quad the flooring company would. So be sure to check with them first before you advise your SS. I'm just worried that it might be a tad too dark.. I remember yours was light in colour from the sample but looking at your photo on a larger scale, it actually looks darker. So I'm just imagining ours which is already a dark colour that on a large scale it will look way too dark... Re quads/skirts - Got you! Thanks for your patience in explaining. Can you perhaps see if you can view the flooring laid somewhere? surely the flooring place have a job you can see. i really do love the colour you have chosen, its beautiful. Re: We are building VANCOUVER 33 with PORTER DAVIS 277May 31, 2017 4:51 pm Yea we'll ask them to see if they've laid the floor somewhere where we can have a quick look. Thank you, its a really beautiful colour. Well, it was our cat who chose it. We had 3 planks laid on the carpet. We switched it on more than one occasion and he always picked the same one lol Re: We are building VANCOUVER 33 with PORTER DAVIS 279Jun 06, 2017 3:16 pm Sgene85 Hello all. We officially now own part of Australia. We settled on our land today!!! Wohooo!!! Next is to hear back from PD on the second soil test and building permits. Congratulations, that's great news! Hopefully PD will get the other stuff sorted ASAP and you can get moving! We will be joining you in owning a small piece of Australia later this week, something to look forward to! We are waiting for planning permits and council approval, everything takes so much time!! Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 12182 Thanks for your reply. I will just wait and see I guess.
