Thanks Liz! I saw the photos. Your Vancouver is looking great. I love the flooring. Is that a light or dark floor? The subway tiles on the kitchen looks fantastic. I believe we got our inspiration in moving overheads in the galley and putting subway tiles in the kitchen SB from you We're still waiting for our PCV :S. Taking forever. Re: We are building VANCOUVER 33 with PORTER DAVIS 207May 02, 2017 10:21 am I'm hoping that we will hear back from PD today to say they have received the soil report. I spoke to the guy doing the soil test and he said PD would have it mid last week but as of Friday they still had not received it. I'm hoping our site costs will be reduced or at least stay the same. I wonder how long it will take from receiving the soil report to being ready to submit to council? Re: We are building VANCOUVER 33 with PORTER DAVIS 208May 02, 2017 10:30 am Sgene85 Awesome. Thanks Its a hard colour to explain, due to the white kinda wash through it it almost looks grey in person. In photos it looks more brown, and id say in between light and dark, i absolutely love the colour of them though, its exactly what we wanted. Plus not one bit of dirt shows up! its also got the grain marks in bedded into the plank so it looks and feels very real. Google some pics for " florence in classica xxl laminate" Yes i think you did! we were discussing it for sometime. You wont feel dissapointed, it creates so much more room and space in the entire area. It might not matter so much for the 33,but becasue the 29 is longer and more narrow we wanted to create that, even after we added the extra 500mm to the length. Re: We are building VANCOUVER 33 with PORTER DAVIS 209May 02, 2017 10:35 am I love the clean look it creates, I plan to have everything hidden away in the galley and pantry Re: We are building VANCOUVER 33 with PORTER DAVIS 210May 02, 2017 10:43 am Hey Niki, howcome we're not thinking or worried about our soil report? Is this because we're not at that stage yet or because we're on a fixed site cost? Hope all goes well with the soil test.. Hey Liz - I googled it, i love the grains on the planks, it adds character to the home. We're still torn on whether to go with our first love which is Godfrey Hirst Villa Truffle (the more expensive flooring) or go with Bamboo (cheaper option). We're doing an industrial theme so flooring is more on the darker side. Yea we did too! because of the french industrial theme, we're going with a darker grout called antracite. Hopefully it will look good lol Re: We are building VANCOUVER 33 with PORTER DAVIS 211May 02, 2017 10:47 am Hi Sgene, Ours is a knock down rebuild so no fixed site costs for us, the first soil test was done before the block was cleared so things can change a lot it seems. The block is totally flat and the soil test guy said it's good soil so that's why I am hoping there is a reduction in costs, they are currently $45,000. PD also told us that there is a good chance they will come down. I wasn't to confident that they would reduce them considering we already agreed to pay the $45,000 but I have heard from others on here that they has theirs reduced. Time will tell I guess. It would be nice to know that there will be extra money left over at the end for driveways and decking etc. Re: We are building VANCOUVER 33 with PORTER DAVIS 215May 02, 2017 11:18 am nikil Hi Sgene, Ours is a knock down rebuild so no fixed site costs for us, the first soil test was done before the block was cleared so things can change a lot it seems. Extra cash would definitely be handy. Hopefully all goes well with the soil test. I wonder how long it will take from receiving the soil report to being ready to submit to council? Yeah its slack and they have had plenty of time. From memory we knew pretty much straight away if our costs were going to differ. For us it was a make or break so we needed to know and lucky for us was before contract signing. Just be careful to check your drawings too, even if nothing chnages or decreases makesure everything that was in the slab before is still there. We picked up metal sheeting that was removed and there was no credit! we questioned it and got the excuse of " oh yeah sorry we missed processing that credit" you have to literally study the drawings. My tip anyway. Hopefully nothing increases, i have it all crossed for you. once soil comes back if any amendments it'll need to go back to engineering to be redesigned or changed. for us this took a few weeks for the slightest change ( screw piles and the secretive removal of metal sheeting) once you've then signed off the plans all get sent off to council. I'd be on there case today until its submitted Re: We are building VANCOUVER 33 with PORTER DAVIS 217May 02, 2017 11:26 am it depends which carpet you go for, i personally love this one! just looking at it you can tell its quailty over the other bamboo. are you going with PD or external for flooring? flooring is everything Re: We are building VANCOUVER 33 with PORTER DAVIS 218May 02, 2017 11:38 am Hey Liz, yea that is our favourite as well. The details are deep and you can tell its quality. We are doing our flooring from an external source after hand over. We love this its just that everyone from the floor shops keep saying Oak looks good but its soft and that Bamboo is the highest rating strength wise and that its more serviceable than oak which is why we are having a look at Bamboo as an option but there is no doubt in our minds that we love the Villa Truffle engineered oak.. Yeah bamboo might be stronger, i wouldn't really know. I remember hearing once that becasue bamboo is a relatively newer option that it hasn't truly been around long enough for anyone to know how it holds up for 25+ yrs lifespan. I remember thinking that was true at the time. Go with the look! its what you'll be staring at daily you dont want to regret the biggest part of your house. ps: hopefully your PVC comes through today, id be on their case phone or email to your BC Re: We are building VANCOUVER 33 with PORTER DAVIS 220May 02, 2017 12:34 pm Wow that's a serious looking kitchen!
