Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 21, 2016 4:26 pm Hi All, I am new here but I want to seek opinion for my situation. I like a design from a builders website and using their pricing filter, the design cost is stated at a certain amount. Having spoken to an agent rep from the builder, the agent quoted pricing for the same design is about 22k more. I had this feeling of being upsell. So you think this difference is acceptable from a marketing vs reality price difference argument? Can I check with another agent from the same builder (maybe go to another of its display homes) to get their pricing again? Please provide some of your opinions, thanks in advanced. Regards, Worried Man Re: Feeling that price quoted by agent is too much off from 3Jun 21, 2016 4:44 pm Hi, I am building in WA so i don't think there is BASIX requirements. Please correct me if I am wrong, thanks. Regards. Re: Feeling that price quoted by agent is too much off from 4Jun 21, 2016 4:52 pm Sorry, should have said IF you were in NSW.. other then that.. not sure.. Maybe look over both word for word and see if the agent has included something online doesn't. IF they haven't then why not just ask them? Re: Feeling that price quoted by agent is too much off from 5Jun 21, 2016 5:00 pm yes yes, I felt so miserable and thanks for the advise, I will ask them in email now. but do you think a second opinion from same builder but different agent is advisable? Re: Feeling that price quoted by agent is too much off from 6Jun 21, 2016 5:14 pm We had a similar problem in SA. There was a price advertised and even packages with house and land, and did not include the cost of the Footings and siteworks. (around $20k) Just ask them it will either be something like that or an upsell to 'display home spec', or airconditioning or paving or something Building a Fairmont Custom in Seaford Meadows Our Build Thread Re: Feeling that price quoted by agent is too much off from 7Jun 21, 2016 6:06 pm Yes, same here. the feeling is not good. Re: Feeling that price quoted by agent is too much off from 8Jun 21, 2016 7:07 pm You can ask why, my advice is ask a million questions, don't be shy. Builders may advertise a really low price but usually it's a sales ploy to get you in the door. viewtopic.php?t=81752 Re: Feeling that price quoted by agent is too much off from 10Jun 22, 2016 5:45 pm we just got one of our tenders back close to 60k more. All due to site costs in relation to sloping block having to do split level as well as foreshore requirements. Have you asked them for a breakdown of what the extra costs are for? Perhaps widen the hole a bit more and insert a nice piece of timber and make it an in counter knife block?? 2 1679 Before you rip it up, if you can in the grout lines, drill some holes and pour/inject techgrip by sika. I have used it to bond mdf to timber, but in the process it dripped… 1 4284 Not much in this responce. My suggestion is, what are you looking to build and why. This will all be impacted by the local councils planning scheme. Familiarise yourself… 6 5840 |
