Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 16, 2016 8:19 am Hi All, After detailed research and reading variety of the forums on homeone, i have signed up with Mimosa Homes to build my first home in Melbourne West. Creating this topic in case anyone is interested to know the experience. So far it's been really amazing from sales and consultant point of view, the staff at Allura office was fantastic is guiding and giving honest opinion. She did not push for deposit or anything to make the sale but listened to me all the time and assisted to custom designs multiple times. Their inclusions variety and quality is really good so i did not have get everything upgraded. That's the only downfall I found with them. https://letsbuildwithboutique.wordpress.com Re: Building with Mimosa Homes in Melbourne West - Johanna 2 4Jun 16, 2016 10:05 pm Good to hear your experience with them is good so far. We also liked some of their floorplans and went to a few of the display villages. Their sales staff were really nice, however, their downfall for us was that they never contacted us with quotes etc. We tried 3 different offices and didn't a response from any of them. Looking forward to following your build though. Always in contact and assisting with siting and quote. If you are still looking, try Bianca at Allura office. I did not find any concerning thing there, in fact i went there multiple times to re-validate, standard inclusion quality and variety. They did have some minor improvement opportunities which i highlighted to them from their building point of view. Re: Building with Mimosa Homes in Melbourne West - Johanna 2 7Jun 17, 2016 10:20 am I have just paid the deposit with Mimosa as well for the bedroom version of the Johanna 240. We have switched the kitchen and the dining space so that the kitchen will be facing outside. This will also allow us to hopefully have the pantry opening to the laundry which opens to the garage. We have also gone with a widened entry of 1800mm and higher ceilings (2700mm). What stage are you up to? Johanna 240 - Bedroom - Manor Lakes Re: Building with Mimosa Homes in Melbourne West - Johanna 2 8Jun 17, 2016 11:01 am I just paid deposit as well. We kept the design same as changing kitchen to side was impacting size of dining and living, we just did some tweaking like adding noche similar to retreat version. Removing wall of ensuite toilet and moved the door to ensuite entrace. It makes ensuite look bigger and better. Which area are you building? I would love to see your design if you don't mind sharing. Re: Building with Mimosa Homes in Melbourne West - Johanna 2 9Jun 17, 2016 6:31 pm No, their showroom! When I went I had to dust off dust from tiles and the selection was limited. https://letsbuildwithboutique.wordpress.com Re: Building with Mimosa Homes in Melbourne West - Johanna 2 10Jun 17, 2016 10:17 pm I personally did not notice any dust and available tiles style and colors were good enough for me to choose from. By everyone have different requirements you know. I may have gone on a bad day. https://letsbuildwithboutique.wordpress.com Re: Building with Mimosa Homes in Melbourne West - Johanna 2 12Jun 21, 2016 2:02 pm jmasood I just paid deposit as well. I see. We are in two minds about the ensuite. On one hand it will mean no moisture in there if we move the door, but feel it might make it feel smaller. We have widened the entry to 1800mm as well. I will show you my plans for the kitchen no problem. It has allowed us to be in the kitchen and see the back yard but also putting in a long window above the backsplash and below the overhead cabinets. It also allowed us to make the pantry walkthrough to into the laundry, extend the laundry out a little and put the garage door in the laundry. So this way we can come from garage through laundry and pantry and straight into kitchen. We haven't got the new plans drawn up but I can try uploading my sketches if you want? Can anyone who had already done it explain please. Good luck for all johanna home owners to be. We will be one soon as well. Re: Building with Mimosa Homes in Melbourne West - Johanna 2 17Jun 25, 2016 5:23 pm jmasood I am still waiting for their call and color selection arrangement Sriya. Did you make any change in design or going with default layout? any upgrades? We are going with the default layout. With a minor chnages of increasing one br size. Will post the plan once we get it from them. I hope to hear from u about your experience and i would share mine in this thread as well. Re: Building with Mimosa Homes in Melbourne West - Johanna 2 18Jun 25, 2016 5:26 pm And yes we are adding two doors in the ensuite and wardrobe inside. Just a weird feeling of having wardrobe open i was wondering if the moisture from shower would affect the clohes. I may be wrong lol. But we are going for the doors.
