I enlisted the services of an interior designer however the two greys she suggested, grey cabin and grey master (both dulux) are to brown. Ive got sample pots and painted the colour on large 900x600 plywood sheets to see what they look like in the house. Any suggestions for dark grey, my kitchen guy is suggesting monument, I’ve looked at Oolong. Bench and splash back will be a Carrara classic quartz. Thanks Hi gogo65....yes designers colours were on the brown side, nice colours, but not charcoal. Way below is 2 I have selected for you, more to the charcoals. Let me know what you think. I'm picking it up this afternoon after work!! Super happy. Sorry everyone, I have found it so hard to work with the laptop I bought as a stand in. It's slow and the colour is awful! I'll be back as soon as I get sorted and up and running again. I am hoping you may be able to assist. I live in a high set home in North Queensland, with exterior hardiplank walls, new underside cladding to be Colorbond Trimdeck in Surfmist and trims in Basalt. I am experiencing difficulty matching the exterior Dulux paint to Colorbond Surfmist. I have painted a few boards and a section of the current Shadowline (which is to be removed) with sample pots of Colorbond Surfmist and half strength Surfmist, and they are vastly darker than a sheet of Colorbond Surfmist. I am now considering a quarter strength Surfmist sample pot. My final question is, should I match the exterior steps to the exterior walls and trim? I have no deck or verandah, so you step out of the house (polished floors) directly onto the stairs. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Re: Colour questions? 286Sep 14, 2020 12:06 am Montu Ozshaz Hi Michelle, I hope you are well and I was hoping you can help me with my colour selections please. I do have questions around Exterior and Interior colours. I will start with Kitchen. We are leaning towards London Grey Ceaserstone for the Island and bench top with a window splash back. We cant decide if we should keep the Overhead and underbench cupboards - Light grey/blue tone or hazelnut or any other colour. Trying to keep light blue/grey theme for wall colors. Would you know where I can get these from ? Schots Melbourne Re: Colour questions? 287Sep 14, 2020 12:09 am Hi Michelle. We have chosen Haymes Moon and Stars paint for our new house. Now I am unsure how it will look since there are not many pictures on internet. After warm grey walls but don't want it to look too dark at night. Wondering if should have gone with Aura instead. REPLY Re: Colour questions? 288Sep 15, 2020 1:52 am Hi Michelle, I am looking to do a grey/off white front facade with a feature brick (Vintage Red, tumbled - Brikmakers), however there are restrictions within my estate. I have currently picked Basalt and Vanilla Quake for my colours, Basalt being the roof, downpipes, facade, front door and a small part of the front render - rest will be Vanilla Quake. One front pillar will be in 1c Vintage red tumbled brick w/ white mortar. Issue being that it is likely that my estate has selected 4 colours for the roof, and tbh I am not a fan of any of them. I am going to try to submit my plans as is and see if they approve it (there is a clause that they might approve outside these guidelines at their discretion) however I need to plan if they do not. The roof colours they suggest are Surfmist, Dune, Evening Haze and Windspray - all of which have green/yellow undertones. Is there any colours you could suggest that would give me a similar look that could incorporate one of these colorbond colours instead? Thank you Re: Colour questions? 291Oct 26, 2020 4:57 pm Anyone have any thoughts (pros or cons) on surfmist vs other whites like Pearl White (for windows) or perisher white (for garage doors). Our vision was dark bricks, monument metal roof and accented white windows and garage. As soon as we saw the surfmist example in the studio we turned it away as it didnt look white at all. But how does that really translate once its out in the real world and not in a studio sample? But yes, in the studio it does look quite grey. I am now at the point I can pick a surfmist garage door over a white, but it isn't blindingly obvious. The deciding factor for me which I didn't consider before I read it, was you can see your windows from the interior and you may consider what you are painting your internal walls. Obvious to some, but I was concentrating so much on outside that I didn't think about it. That's why we ended up going with white for our frames. If you haven't already, you might like to read some Tash Bell or Katrina Chambers as they both have some nice insights into surfmist. We have selected Surfmist for our interior walls on our new build. Construction starts in a few weeks so I have nothing to show as yet however Clarendon Homes have a display at Warriewood NSW with Surfmist interior and yes, it does look grey inside. So far happy with our choice and look forward to seeing the result! Re: Colour questions? 296Nov 01, 2020 9:12 am Looking for ideas/advice about what interior wall colour I can use to replace Taubmans Vanilla Slices without opening a can of worms with current matching tiling, birch white window frames, external cream trim, etc. want to freshen up but need to move away from this bold cream colour. Any ideas are appreciated. Re: Colour questions? 297Nov 03, 2020 5:37 pm Hi Michelle Just need some guidance around internal wall colours for our new build . Our exterior is a dark theme so I’m aiming to keep the interior light and fresh . Taubmans is the included paint with our builder . We are in the process of finalising our main floor tiles . Both choice are a warm colour- ones a plain beige and the other one is marble effect mix of beige and grey. Our colour consultant suggested Taubmans Ageless for the walls but I feel like it’s going to be too cream and the whole house will end up looking yellow . I’m after a light beige with a mix of either grey or taupe tinge to it . Any suggestions ? The doors a dskirting will be Tahira white . I've tried to find Taubmans Willow Herb on the net for you, a much better colour. But as usual with Taubmans paints...it's hard work! Try and get a sample pot and see what you think of the colour. It's a soft grey cream. See how you go.
