Browse Forums Building A New House Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 241Feb 27, 2017 2:46 pm Hi fait, Haven't started a thread yet. Still waiting for plans to come back and the waiting is making us double think if we should do GJ or go elsewhere. Comms is pretty slow and there's always something wrong after each revision. For example being told it's all to scale and they put a scale bar in... but when I measure the rooms some of them are off 15cm.. 10 cm.... wrong measurement labels (I.e 2.7x3.0 but when you measure it it's 2.1x2.9).. zzzzzzzzz Gimme 30mins with their computer software and I can have it down pat! Ads, Home stretch~~. Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 242Feb 27, 2017 4:38 pm What we did before signing or paying for quote, we got everything on the quote and kept changing it till it was perfect. Then signed it and played the 3k deposit. Just went on-site but builder can't meet us before inspection. So we went while tradies onsite and did a quick way through. No photos taken. But will post some of the outside and though windows soon Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 243Feb 27, 2017 5:29 pm ads87 What we did before signing or paying for quote, we got everything on the quote and kept changing it till it was perfect. Nope they were the same the only change was when they take into account soil types and estate requirements later that may change it, but if you know that upfront will be spot on. We got some estimates for things that our sales guy didn't know exact figures but they came back the same or less. Agree with others though we didnt pay until we added everything we wanted but mind you had to change the house plan later after paying and signing due to overlooked estate covenants. Good luck Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 245Feb 28, 2017 6:57 pm buildingonup G1NOSAUR ads87 What we did before signing or paying for quote, we got everything on the quote and kept changing it till it was perfect. Good luck Sounds good =] yeah the our sales lady was very good and included all the site costs which three other builders didn't so I don't see it drastically changing as well. Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 246Feb 28, 2017 8:33 pm What a disaster we have had. So much to do and 1 day left till PC. BBQ benchtop won't be in for a week. The cladding is all done but still can see the termite treatment thing?! The water meter is destroyed again, we went to builders office today and I was really firm with owner saying this Needs to be fixed before we get keys, no discussions. I think the glass splash back won't be done for handover. Toilets are wrong I think. Paint chips/bad paint job through out the house. Grout missing in multiple places, floor/bathrooms. No glass screens yet. One alfresco tile is broken and a few stacker stones are cracked. They left the door unlocked today so we went in at night and tested the lights, all work except for 1 switch. Air-con vent in the most stupid place, not centre of the second lounge room. And the air-con vent is in a different location to the plans! This afternoon I called the owner asking if he has seen this house recently and he said no, I said I want you here to go though the stuff! He said 'can I call you back, Im in a meeting at the moment' next thing the ss calls me instead. So many more things but I can't thing of at the moment. We love the house, but just so f*cking angry with them and the **** job inside. Hopefully we can get this fixed and finally have Gj let go of soon! Here are some pics, the kitchen bench is amazing! Study posts need to be stained still. We have a delivery truck coming this friday. Thankfully,They will let us store the stuff in the garage. Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 247Mar 01, 2017 8:01 am Sheesh... some work to do. Lucky its not structural. The house is looking nice! What cladding did you use in the inner courtyard? Also i noticed i can't see a water tank. Did you choose to have your underground? If so how much was the upgrade? Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 248Mar 01, 2017 8:40 am Cladding is something called like ecogroove I think. No watertank required anymore in qld / our area Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 249Mar 01, 2017 8:34 pm Looking good!! That is strange the termite stuff is poking out the bottom... :/ Loving all your choices. Very swish. - otherwise known as Kym - Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 250Mar 01, 2017 8:54 pm Thank you . Inspection tomorrow and toilets not even installed! They in middle of bedroom, LOL can't wait to ask the builder wtf is this?! And so many other %*^> ups! Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 251Mar 02, 2017 6:29 am Aww that's terrible hope they pull their fingers out the next couple days and tidy it all up for you! Not sure about the termite barrier and cladding but ours sticks out under the bricks but is not bright green it's a black colour and kind of blends in our ss said we need to leave it and incorporate it if tiling or putting gardens there. Hmm not sure exactly. Your inside looks beautiful with all your choices but I can see what you mean that outside tiling pic looks a little concerning with the massive gaps between cladding Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 252Mar 02, 2017 7:38 am LOL. You have captured the essence of many people's feelings in a few short sentences. Sometimes what the builders promise with their marketing messages and what you really see or get on the ground is worlds apart. And all this with your money. Look around and the forum is filled with screaming customers. It only shows that something needs to change, maybe a consumer watchdog for the building industry is needed. Hang in there buddy and good luck. And keep posting. Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 253Mar 02, 2017 8:41 pm How did PCI go ads?! - otherwise known as Kym - Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 254Mar 03, 2017 7:31 am It went really well, LOTS was done by 10am. The inspector we had was really good and really helpful/nice. Few things to be sorted like hot water and connection for sinks. Tiles have been fixed and some are still to be fixed. The owner popped in also, and was really impressed, think he said it's one of the nicest houses he has made. Hopefully splashback installed today and BBQ. Pics to come Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 255Mar 09, 2017 6:08 pm Handover tomorrow morning they still haven't asked for final payment either lol. They asked if I will bring a cheque and I said you guys haven't told me what the final price is yet... They said all good and will get it sorted after handover Blinds are being installed tomorrow and some deliveries on Saturday. Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 256Mar 09, 2017 6:52 pm Sounds good are you expecting a shock for the final price or contracted amount? Yay for handover tomorrow!! Are you planning to move stuff in this weekend? Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 257Mar 09, 2017 8:11 pm Yay!!! Omg lol. What builder does that?! Haha small win there! - otherwise known as Kym - Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 259Mar 23, 2017 12:08 pm Hey Guys, Sorry for delay, been so busy cleaning, unpacking, cleaning, unpacking... more cleaning! Finally settled in, almost everything complete. Our SS quit the other day, so new SS is catching up with the things left to be done. I swear some tradies are plain stupid / careless. Some of things that need to fixed is a joke.. One of the biggest stuff ups was from our blinds company, they made them too short, 2.1 instead of a 2.4 drop for our main living area. So when extended you can see the metal bar. They are being replaced, the poor guy has to come back to replace and reprogram all of them as they are motorized, and apparently a b*tch to configure. The landscaping is a little crap too, had some torrential rain and was like a swimming pool in the backyard!
