Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 182Nov 21, 2016 5:48 pm We have a colourbond roof with sarking and it's single story and the range is vented to the eaves. - otherwise known as Kym - Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 183Nov 26, 2016 7:48 am Just caught up on your latest photos, you have so much light!! Those 2.4 doors are amazing! I'd also be inclined to say ours is vented externally but tbh I couldn't be sure Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 184Nov 26, 2016 8:15 am Slow progress so far. Since last week, just the internal plaster stuff done. No external cladding, no soffit fittings. Apparently cabinetry on Monday and cladding. Disappointed the cladding isn't done. Worried about the kitchen wall if there is a big storm as that side has no eaves.. And only has the wrapping. I wouldn't be too concerned. The wrapping will stop most if not all of rain etc. My sis is renovating and extending her place and the extension has been wrapped for a few months before they got to cladding it and it's been fine in storms. - otherwise known as Kym - Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 186Nov 26, 2016 8:58 am Your plaster work looks so neat Ads! Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 187Nov 28, 2016 5:51 pm I was told this is the most frustrating stage and its difficult to see much change for a few weeks. I was told it appears to go faster once the kitchen is in 😊 Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 188Dec 02, 2016 3:07 pm So disappointed. We visited our place and honestly no real / major progress. They did some waterproofing in bathrooms and laundry. No cabinetry, no cladding, no render, eaves still not done. What a joke. They pulled out kitchen window for some reason and behind the kitchen wall looks a disaster! Luckily the waterproofing guy rocked up to do 15 mins work becUse the drains where wrong and he swapped them for the smart ones. We also met a apollo blinds guy on-site to get us a quote to get roller blinds for the whole house. We where on-site for 2+ hrs and only the one trade showed. The SS is away for the week so couldn't ask what is up. Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 189Dec 02, 2016 8:16 pm Naww that's frustrating the window is out and you have no idea why, hopefully they are making an improvement , or at least if there was an issue they've noticed and are fixing it Maybe they have slowed down cause the SS is away so fingers crossed it picks up when he's back before the break- what an odd time to have leave though! I'm lucky enough to check on ours every arvo after work.... it's exciting to see what a new day brings, however at your stage (after plaster, bricking, roof) it was a bit slower but there was still little things being done. Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 192Dec 06, 2016 7:12 am Yeah, I guess we expected more because our neighbour nearly has everything done internally and he started 2/3 weeks after us. I know they are scrambling to finish a heap of houses before Xmas. Also, the metal mesh was the neighbours..who now have a driveway. The Friday it was about 37 in the area, it was insanely hot outside, inside the house it was warm, and when the big stackers opened up on both sides it was amazing! Does anyone have any blind companies they recommend? We had apollo come out and quote us, but we are not 100% sold with them. Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 193Dec 06, 2016 8:51 pm We've found the same with the stacker doors - as soon as they're all opened the cross breeze is awesome. A place close to where we're building started a few weeks after us and they look like they're ready for hand-over today (different company) but we understand our build includes pool, shed and a heap of concreting/tiling, etc and they're still ahead of time. With each payment brings higher mortgage repayments - the quicker we get in now, the better. Blinds - I ordered on spotlight and will install when we move in. Our window furnishing budget is pretty tight. Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 194Dec 18, 2016 10:24 am We just came back from another site visit. Very slow progress. Been two weeks and all that has been done is the house has been rendered and some holes have been drilled in the plaster. No cabinetry (due over a week), no eaves/cladding/skirting etc We noticed that a light switch is in the wrong location and not even on the electrical layout. They also cut out a light switch in the master then drew a circle around it saying 'please patch'. The SS apologised for the slow progress but address the concerns and will find out about the rouge light switch and a few other things. The render looks so much better then the ugly brick . They rendered the front pillar which is meant to be stacked stone, hopefully won't cause any issues.. Is that the colour it will stay or are you painting over the render? Stacked stone I would assume sticks better on the render smooth surface compared to bare bricks but that's their issue to work out if it's meant to be included Hoping you get some speedy progress before closedown Follow my build viewtopic.php?t=83885 Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 196Dec 19, 2016 8:40 am I believe it will be painted, but I don't mind this color either Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 197Dec 19, 2016 5:11 pm ads87 I believe it will be painted, but I don't mind this color either I was going to say it looks nice as is! Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater 198Dec 22, 2016 6:20 am I'm still not getting updates for your thread ads Did you leave in the delayed costs clause? If they go over will they start paying you? I'm so sorry that you are having delays, sometimes I wish we never went with GJ. If we went with Coral or Metricon or even possibly a local builder maybe we would have had started when we had DA approval back in Oct Here's to the new year and your home finishing and my home starting GJ Gardner Modified Coolum 277 viewtopic.php?t=83643 Re: First Build - GJ Gardner - Modified StillWater - Cabinet 199Dec 24, 2016 3:06 pm Thanks CB - I didnt get an update on my own thread either! crazy.
