Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 21... 3342Jun 16, 2017 7:26 am Far out love is there no end to this for you? If it makes you feel more hopeful my house had gyprock start 58 days before handover. I had delays with my kitchen and stone too which blew out the timeframe. It can be done When I read your emails to The clown, it takes me back to this time last year when I had exactly the same conversation with head office and sent almost identical emails highlighting my end date and how worried I was and demanding to know what they were doing to try and get it over the line. Can I be honest? In hindsight it was just a waste of time and energy. They are like teenage boys these supervisors and builders. They will tell you what they think you want to hear to shut you up and keep you happy until next time. Of course at the time it's like pure desperation takes over and you feel like you need to talk to someone and shake them and have them say 'it's ok- we will make it'. I totally understand. It's in their interest to finish your job asap- delays cost them money too. You are doing a great job of being strong and picking up errors and I totally support you in doing that. My builder even says now that had I not have been on their case and checking up every thing they did, it would have cost them over $80k in errors and fixing mistakes not to mention more time. My house was basically built from brick stage to completion in 50 days. It can be done. You just obviously don't want them cutting corners and leaving you with a defect list of 80 like me C U S T O M. C O R A L. To turn it back on you?! Tell you they have extra bills for you and you need to sort out what's happen ring with the neighbours!? It makes me so mad! What happened to don't worry we will redirect the water for you at the end no problem??? I would be in tears can you contact the building commission for advice? Especially about the variations they proceed with without notifying you it will cost? Do you even have a ballpark figure?? I'm scared for you what a nightmare Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 21... 3345Jun 16, 2017 10:36 am The hits keep coming don't they. Maybe its time to call a meeting with your SS and to go through all of the issues and put together a realistic schedule of what needs to be done. As for your neighbours I would get in contact with them stating you are trying address the issue and would they kindly refrain from speaking with your builders and to communicate directly with you in the future. Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 21... 3346Jun 16, 2017 1:12 pm It is beyond frustrating - feeling quite deflated - I feel attacked from that email Anyone know of some good sales? I feel some good retail therapy coming on Not looking forward to the variation - I have a feeling its going to be huge in my head I'm thinking $12k is what he will sting us with considering he wanted $7k from the driveway that we did ourselves for $1.5k... Hopefully it cant be as bad as $12k - hopefully I am over thinking things. If it huge I will lose faith in humanity - they should bloody absorb considering the hell we've been put through I just received my progress report... It makes no sense because in the email yesterday he said that the electrical rouging was completed? "Hi Guys End of another week and what great weather we have had Great if you like rain, lets hope it clears for the weekend Here is your call report for this week Bricklayer will continue, electrical rough in next week as well as plaster to commence battening the ceiling and start plastering Enjoy your weekend" I am excited for the progress but I've been promised plaster for the past 3 weeks so its hard to get any hopes up Also we had one lonely guy turn up today for an hour... I just want some happiness with our build. Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 22... Still no plaster or bric 3347Jun 16, 2017 6:38 pm ;-; I'm so sad for you hun. This should be such a joyful experience, and you've had such a hard journey. I totally feel your devastation, I promise it does get better.. and hopefully once we have keys we will be okay. 12k is crazy! Especially if they did the work without telling you a price first. I wonder what recourse you have there.. I'm wondering if you should even have to pay.. Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 22... Still no plaster or bric 3348Jun 16, 2017 6:47 pm Well I asked to go cash through the earthworks mob and was told it would be no problem but then I find out we're getting a variation which makes me believe it will be huge GJ Gardner Modified Coolum 277 http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=83643 Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 22... Still no plaster or bric 3353Jun 16, 2017 7:19 pm Honestly...just finished catching up...I'm flabbergasted. I don't think it will cost that much. Has the weather been sh!t your way too? Building is soooo frustrating especially when they don't do the minimum of what they have said. They do tend to not disclose a lot like the earlier post said. If they were honest and open, at the least, you could wrap your head around it and shrug your shoulders and move on. But when there are entire weeks of nothing (neither work on the house or communication from the company) it just becomes a series of let downs and disheartening. Keep positive... do some shopping (oh, that throw is divine!) and think that Christmas will be at your place!
