It looks like a beautiful block. Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 15 Roof Trusses Started 2852May 01, 2017 10:03 am We went out yesterday and had a little walk through.. The roof trusses change the whole feel of the house, feels like a proper house now. Wishing we went with a higher ceiling but being naïve first time builders, it wasn't even something we were aware we could do and at no point was it mentioned that we could raise the ceiling heights. Though GJ Grafton's standard ceiling height is 2550mm. Oh well maybe next time if we are stupid enough to do this again. Also we have a really steep roof pitch so probably would have made that a little bit less maybe 20' instead of 26' but again we didn't know we could do that. You learn so much from doing this silly thing called building. They still have a little bit left to do in the way of roof trusses but I'm hoping they finish by tomorrow so they can do the fascia, gutter and roof by Friday Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 15 Roof Trusses Started 2853May 01, 2017 12:25 pm Totally know how you feel re the roof height hubby is 6' 1" and when he puts his arms all the way up he can touch the beams wish we had of raised the roof height! Keeping everything crossed that you see it finished this week & they can move on super speed Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 15 Roof Trusses Started 2854May 01, 2017 12:37 pm At least they're not 2400 ceilings! We love our 2700 ones - so glad we asked about them. Our builders standard was 2550 as well. Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 15 Roof Trusses Started 2855May 01, 2017 2:05 pm We went with just the 2550 and like them. Hubby is 6'6 and doesn't feel closed in like he does in houses with 2.4m. We like the roof pitch - great for storing things up there plus easier to get around when doing work. Also more roof space air is more energy efficient I think. However it does make my house look huge outside - my high neighbour is like 1.5m higher than us with standard roof height and our roofs are nearly matching in height Was your plumbing in? Now is a good time to go through, check the frames for cracks etc before it's all covered up. Also a good time to check for warping in the frame along hallways etc as if it's bowed the plaster will bow with it. ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 15 Roof Trusses Started 2856May 01, 2017 2:54 pm The 2550 roof feels big enough especially because we aren't that tall either I'm 5'2 and hubby is 5'8 but cant help to dream what 2700mm roof would have been like... Not entirely sure our budget would have stretched that far though. No Plumbing done shell, not that we could see. I just cant wait to see our lady with her hat on and her windows and doors in then I feel like I'll be excited again to see some progress, while we are progressing with trusses I feel like we've been on this stage forever and its not really "progress" if that makes sense? I am praying they are done today as we had workers up there before 6am and team of them along with our SS who has been there all day too, maybe he is finally cracking the whip and getting involved? Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 15 Roof Trusses Started 2857May 01, 2017 4:40 pm They started before 6am this morning and they are still going!!! Shut the front door right?!?!?! Sister in law said it all looks to be virtually done Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 15 Roof Trusses Started 2858May 01, 2017 5:46 pm Glad you've got progress Charli!!!! I love the high ceilings, but when you think about it its only about 15cm difference between the 2550 and 2700 (probably barely noticeable in reality). Plus you don't need to look up in your house, you have all those gorgeous views instead.
