You're 100% right...fobbing clients off is no way to run a business! It's pretty obvious too that they have basically bullsh!tted to you! You should never be put in this position and I know exactly how you feel. I've had to confront mine so many times and it's the last thing you feel like doing when building a new home should be an exciting time in your life. They kill the joy! If I can help in any way let me know Re: Charlibear's Build with GJ Gardner 1727Dec 06, 2016 9:09 am Hey CB, i'm just wondering, have you been out to your block since you got the email about pegging? The reason i ask is that when i built previously, my builder couldn't/wouldn't give me a start date despite my asking repeatedly. Like you i was getting fed up at the lack of communication. As i lived 1 hr away from the block i also didn't bother visiting every week, but then one day decided, wth let's just go for a drive & have a look. When i got there i discovered that the slab had already been poured and frames etc had been delivered. I was devo'd that i'd missed the pouring of the slab but so excited to see that they had actually made a start. So while i was getting ** off with the clo for not giving me a start date the work was already well underway. This may or may not be the case in your situation - i don't want to your hopes up... but it might be worth making a trip out to your block... View thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=83776&start=80 I was out there on the weekend and there was nothing, I was desperately hoping for something. That's why I sent an email stating that mid December is next week but then the reply was what I posted yesterday GJ Gardner Modified Coolum 277 viewtopic.php?t=83643 Re: Charlibear's Build with GJ Gardner 1729Dec 06, 2016 11:38 am Email response from GJ in regards to the email I sent yesterday: "Hi Charli Hope your day is going well I was forwarded the email that you sent to Kylie yesterday and I would like to just let you know that you and your family are not just numbers on the board. The issue at hand is that with the constraints of the Home building compensation fund that is placed on all builders in NSW, I cant start jobs until others are completed All builders are given a total number of jobs that they can be constructing at any one time as well as a total dollar value What this means is that if, as we do work to our limits we can only legally start another job after we finish a previous job All of this doesn’t help your situation and the frustration that I know there is as to the late start, I fully understand how you feel I was anticipating and aiming to start this month but as is the case sometimes with construction delays do occur that are unavoidable. What I will say is that nobody has jumped ahead of you in the start dates We will be starting you home the first one for the new year Thanks for you patience and I know that the end result you will be wrapped with Thanks again" GJ Gardner Modified Coolum 277 viewtopic.php?t=83643 Re: Charlibear's Build with GJ Gardner 1730Dec 06, 2016 11:51 am charlibear Email response from GJ in regards to the email I sent yesterday: "Hi Charli Hope your day is going well I was forwarded the email that you sent to Kylie yesterday and I would like to just let you know that you and your family are not just numbers on the board. I assume they tried to handover a house and start yours but couldn't finish the other house Re: Charlibear's Build with GJ Gardner 1732Dec 06, 2016 2:49 pm This could've been said to you earlier though instead of saying oh youll probly at this date or this date so you weren't getting your hopes up and expecting it to happen. Straight up honesty and communication is key GJ!! sez and mart noosa 23 mkll northern nsw Re: Charlibear's Build with GJ Gardner 1733Dec 06, 2016 3:12 pm That is what I was explaining, they have full numbers on their insurance and can't legally start. It does mean you can pull out of your contract as they haven't fulfilled their side by starting 20 days after da approval but by the time you cancel your contract, find a new builder, redo your finance, redo your da it will be 6 months and be halfway through your build with gj if you waited. I know they should tell you they are full up, this is the bad part of the communication - they should let you choose to either wait or go somewhere else, but they don't. Looked up my colours - I did get white sand - have photos but I got grey cement - maybe that is what you are paying for - white cement. ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: Charlibear's Build with GJ Gardner 1734Dec 06, 2016 5:58 pm So they * to keep you on their books and take your money...nice start to the process! It's really unethical if you ask me! Being honest from the start would've been a far better way to handle it! Re: Charlibear's Build with GJ Gardner 1735Dec 06, 2016 7:11 pm Oh so now you get a detailed response? Considering you have had to chase them to even get a reply for at least a month now, they aren't treating you like a valued customer. I'm really sorry you've had such a crappy start to this process. I sure as hell hope they up their game on the build, because their pre build communication isn't professional by any means. Build thread http://tinyurl.com/llgc7yk Re: Charlibear's Build with GJ Gardner 1736Dec 06, 2016 7:26 pm I am so sorry for the **** ride you are getting, companies like this need to be honest and state how long before you will be waiting. Give them hell and mention the contract being broken if they value your build tell them for the waiting and costs involved compensation should be looked at. Don't let them get away with it, it isn't ethical for a business to take a chunk of your money and not give you a result you have signed for..... do you mind me asking did you pay a large deposit? they would be earning interest on your deposit tell them you want to know were that money has been allocated has the frame been built what materials have been ordered, in a sense what do you own so far..... I wish that you get some answers and I am sending good vibes your way.
