Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 09, 2016 12:12 pm Our 2 storey home in Perth has just turned 3 years old and the top half is rendered with acrylic texture render coat finish. We have noticed that we are finding lots of white sand particles on the floor of the balcony and upon closer look can see the render crumbling/flaking and it seems that the binder or glue that holds it all together is failing!! I am wondering what to do now and who is responsible for this e.g. the builder, the renderer or is it a product fault? The product is Hadrian Texture Sand Finish which i believe is a Dulux product. We were told this product would last 10 years before it needs redoing...clearly this is NOT true... Re: FAIL! WHY is my Dulux Acrylic Texture Coat render crumbl 2Jul 03, 2016 10:43 pm Hi oneness, I suggest you ring Dulux to find out if Hadrian is their product and then ask their technical expert about your problem. Sounds poor job indeed but render is a specialist trade. Far too thin seems a possibility. Good luck and let me know how you went. Re: FAIL! WHY is my Dulux Acrylic Texture Coat render crumbl 3Feb 16, 2017 11:25 am Hadrian sand finish is manufactured and aold by dulux. I am going to be the bearer of bad news here. 99.9% of plasterers will not apply the required acrashield membrane in top of the trowelon texture, required by dulux for the approved 3 coat process. Its a shame, they just want business so they make the whole thing as cheap as possible at the expense of the face Of dulux acratex. This is a major problem in the construction industry. Builders dont seem to care. I will bet that ur texture coating is applied to blueboard and u are close to the ocean (within 20km of the coast). how do i know this, because i used to serve these stingy builders with this product for a career. Re: FAIL! WHY is my Dulux Acrylic Texture Coat render crumbl 4Feb 16, 2017 11:29 am Iether that or it was a typical hurry job on to rendered wall and the render was still wet when it was primed. eflourescene will cause the entire coating to fail if it was a hurry job. I closely watch buildingsites and take note of how long all the cowboys wait for render to cure. Never seen anyone leave a building alone for the required 6 weeks. It just doesnt happen anymore, everything is a rush, often because the customer demanda it be finished quickly. Re: FAIL! WHY is my Dulux Acrylic Texture Coat render crumbl 5Sep 28, 2018 3:12 pm Hi oneness Our house is aprox 4 years young we have now seen the failing Hadrian sand finish dulux product failing as you describe, sand particles in the upper storey box gutter . The initial reation from the builder is its a maintenace problem , also apparently we did not choose to have the third coat painted on is implied, and advise us to have it painted 🤣 Never was it offered vebally or contractualy.. Apart from all this which is now an ongoing sh.. fight. Would appreciate how you progressed with this issue Rebuilder86 is totally correct , the customer is promised the world!!!!! Then given an atlas.😣😣😣😃😃 Hi Alex, Thanks for the reply again. I had a chat with the builder, he said he will use primer, then hydrotec which comes with colour and sealer as well.
