Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 08, 2016 11:42 am We have some substantial retaining to complete (approx 80m@1m high) and have received a quote from our builder that seems reasonable but I want to know if there are savings to be had by having it done without the builder involved. I'm having trouble tracking down contractors to quote the job. I've rung half a dozen people out of the yellow pages, some do retaining walls others are just machinery people, haven't managed to find someone who can do the whole thing. Wondering if anyone knows someone in the SEQ region who does this and perhaps has also used the contracor. FYI - The job is in the Redland Bay area. Thanks. Re: Block Retaining 3Jun 08, 2016 12:01 pm Sorry, I can't help with recommendation but we have found that, unless you physically go in and ask for a quote, face-to-face, then they're quite unlikely to reply. We contacted loads of companies in SA to do our retaining walls and only two replied. That's when we started doing the requests in person. Good luck Re: Block Retaining 4Jun 14, 2016 10:56 am Does the block need to be surveyed before cutting can occur? We are part of a new development and there are pegs out marking the property.....is it really as simple as stringline and away we go???
