Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 641Feb 07, 2018 5:04 pm Cabinets and stone bench top look amazing WGB Great idea to put newspaper on the floor to work out space for your dining table. We have to work this out too and exactly where it will be placed to ensure our pendant light above is exactly centre As for your floors, that sounds a bit worrying! Is it the timber/ laminate or the slab underneath? We are getting our floorer to check out our slab this week just in case it’s uneven and needs sanding back Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 642Feb 07, 2018 5:17 pm Waldorf_Grange_Build Hurrow Waldorf_Grange_Build Had our Darbecca inspection today. Very keen to read the report when it comes through. Here are some pics from today. Do Darbecca do an inspection of if everything is where it is supposed to be etc for PCI, or are they mostly just checking the structural stuff? It’s mostly structural and whether everything is to the Australian building standards. The worst thing he mentioned today is that our main living/dining floors are uneven and outside the variable allowance. That will take the most work to rectify. Is it the slab or the floor covering? see more at hoffmangoldwithporterdavis.wordpress.com Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 643Feb 07, 2018 6:03 pm Here's the latest blog with a summary of what Darbecca found today >> https://waldorfgrangebuild.wordpress.co ... nspection/ I have forwarded this to my site supervisor and asked him to let me know how long he anticipates the trades will take to rectify these. Darbecca have recommend we get them out again to do a re-inspection after these defects have been rectified by the builder. The floor should have been checked at slab stage for flatness by debarca if its related to the slab. Is it the slab or the floor covering? see more at hoffmangoldwithporterdavis.wordpress.com It's definitely the slab. It was raised at slab stage and the builder attempted to redo that area but it seems it was not levelled enough and now there are clear dips and rises in the laminate. Some of the sections pointed out today were to the left of this where I couldn’t see any leveling done. Although it could have been laid after I took this pick....but unlikely. Did you have high ceilings up stairs or standard? With my build i have more room above the window and door. I have been following your blog for a while and noticed you had PCI. Are you able to explain the process to me when also using a Private Inspector. We have PCI tomorrow but there are alot of items that are unfinalised. We are having Darbecca coming in too but they have advised to ensure the house is totally finalized before they do final inspection. I'm reluctant to sign anything tomorrow with our SS until Darbecca have done their final review as I'm concerned on being caught out.....what is the process here?? Why didn't the SS get the slab sorted after that stage rather than waiting till you've had the floors laid, it would have saved everyone a lot of time and hassle? Hi Waldorf! Yes we had PCI with site supervisor first and listed all our defects. Then Darbecca came through a few days later and made their list, there was a small amount of overlap but Darbecca looked mostly at building code and what wasn't compliant whereas I listed mostly cosmetic things. We signed the PCI document with the full understanding that there would be additional things added later. Now our site supervisor is organising trades to work through both lists before handover. no date set yet. Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 654Feb 18, 2018 9:10 am Fingers crossed you don't have much longer to wait. Our SS is very confident we will have handover within 5 days of PCI. I am not so confident, I noticed a while ago that all our down pipes are wrong, they are zincalume and should be colourbond. They still haven't been changed. Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 655Feb 19, 2018 7:44 pm We asked our site supervisor last week for an update on the defects being rectified from PCI.
