Slab set to be poured on Wednesday. Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 202Mar 30, 2017 8:03 pm BTW no start date yet for us. Our builder is still trying to work out our site levels with the engineer and excavator and whether we will need concrete piers... If not those, then it's going go to be more of a site cut and possibly some retaining walls. Either way probably looking at extra $$$ Our 37sq Custom Hamptons Inspired Home: http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86931 Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 203Mar 30, 2017 8:07 pm Dani_J BTW no start date yet for us. We had to get a retaining wall added down one side due to the fall of the land and that cost $8000. I really hope that doesn't happen to you. Do you have much of a slope? Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 204Mar 30, 2017 8:53 pm Oh that sucks! We have a 1m slope right at the front of our block and the developer has already put in retaining walls. So not sure why we would need more next to the garage if they cut in... Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 206Mar 31, 2017 3:48 pm Just got informed today we are getting a new BC. Our previous BC is moving on to a new role and a new one has been appointed. Hopefully a smooth transition. Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 207Mar 31, 2017 4:04 pm Once you move on to building and have a Site Supervisor, is that the end of dealing with the BC? Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 209Apr 01, 2017 7:32 am nikil Once you move on to building and have a Site Supervisor, is that the end of dealing with the BC? Yeah good question, not sure. I suppose there will be less to liaise with them about but not sure if they stay with you through the entire build along with the Site Supervisor. We have been introduced to our slab supervisor but not our site supervisor yet. Maybe someone further along in their build can clarify. Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 210Apr 01, 2017 7:33 am Magavin Following your thread. Love your selections and congrats on the start! Thank you. I look forward to posting more pics as it progresses. I found watching other people's build a really exciting part. I spoke to Darbecca today and the pre pour inspection was definitely going ahead today. I should get the report tonight. If nothing major needing to be addressed the slab pour should go ahead tomorrow. Build thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81011 Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 218Apr 05, 2017 5:50 pm Charley Our neighbour is building one and almost done and have to say looks stunning! Oh great. Yes we fell in love with the facade as we wanted the Hamptons look and then the inside floorplan was perfect for us. I can't wait to see it come together. We strayed a little from the display house exterior colours so I'm hoping our selections work once in the big picture. Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 219Apr 05, 2017 7:58 pm Pre-pour inspection has come through. I've updated the blog https://waldorfgrangebuild.wordpress.co ... nspection/ If you aren't using the services of Darbecca I highly recommend you do. Well worth it. Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 220Apr 05, 2017 8:19 pm Just had a read, we initially hadn't planned to get an independent inspector. Thought it would be fine... this thread and others on here have made us definite that we will be getting one and Darbeca seem to be the company of choice. At the beginning of our process when PD asked if we would be choosing a building inspector or we could use the one suggested by them (for free) we said we were fine to do this. Is it to late now to tell them we also want to use Darbeca or will they be ok with it? Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 12322 We spent close to 2 years in a process with TA. It was horrible..... we got to tender, and the first cut was 50% over our budget which "they care such about meeting ". We… 18 27219 Thanks for your reply. I will just wait and see I guess.
