Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 581Jan 05, 2018 6:52 pm So we got a call from our site supervisor today as he is back from his Christmas break. The painters were at the house yesterday and today. He’s booked our carpet to be installed 20th Jan. He also said some more kitchen cabinets were damaged so he has contacted the company that makes them (they reopen on Monday) to try and urgently get more made. Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 582Jan 05, 2018 9:43 pm That's awesome that things are moving again already (well, not so much about the cabinets)! I can’t wait until the balcony is also white so I can finally stand back and see the finished facade. It’s been 19 months since we picked all our colours. Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 586Jan 12, 2018 6:36 am Okay all my pics from yesterday now up on the blog https://waldorfgrangebuild.wordpress.co ... ange-hood/ Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 588Jan 14, 2018 9:18 am Waldorf_Grange_Build Okay all my pics from yesterday now up on the blog https://waldorfgrangebuild.wordpress.co ... ange-hood/ Hi Your house looks amasing. We originally picked to house design with Porter Davis but then change our mind and went with Metricon. Can I ask what the total cost of this house is this far and if you are doing anything post handover on the house? Just curious if we stick with this design, what we would have spent on this house. I've just never noticed it on any of the display homes. It is colourbond roof in Basalt. I didn’t know it would be there and because we chose Basalt for the main roof they did it in the same colour. We are having basalt gutters, basalt for the gable trim, and surf mist for the fascia... I'm not familiar with what that part is... if anything I would call it a fascia, but perhaps it's not. I might need to check this with PD to confirm. Yeah it was as if the ground floor section is slightly larger than the top floor so there’s extra roof. We picked Surfmist for our fascia. I just checked my WOS selections and there's a section called "Capping colour"... I have a feeling that it is. We have chosen shale grey, which is also the colour of our downpipes and meter box. I have a feeling that was the same as the QLD display, but I might go confirm that this weekend to be sure. I think I best check with PD just to be sure. Your colours selection document is a lot better than ours. This is all we got.... He said it is semi translucent and does not show up strong enough. He convinced us to change to Purist White. Our site supervisor said he wished the colour selection team at World of Style would stop suggesting Wattyl White as it doesn’t look good. In case you also want to change. We wanted our dado paneling and skirting boards to pop against the grey walls so we didn’t want semi translucent where you could see the wood grain. I'll bring that up with PD as well... hopefully there's no cost to change it now that we have signed our contract. It is a colourbond roof flashing/capping that is installed before your moulding goes on. Because there is cladding the only way to stop water from going in is to install flashing/capping. This is usually the same colour as your gutters unless you specify another colour. I wish they talked to us about this as i wouldn't have wanted Basalt in this area if I had the option of something else. Looks like ours is Shale Grey then, which is why I didn't notice it on the QLD display because its very similar in colour to the render. Yeah it's a shame they didn't even discuss that with you.
