We originally picked to house design with Porter Davis but then change our mind and went with Metricon. Can I ask what the total cost of this house is this far and if you are doing anything post handover on the house? Just curious if we stick with this design, what we would have spent on this house. Great news! How long does it normally take from PCI to actually moving in? I think it depends on the amount of defects are found by our private inspector. Fingers crossed it all goes well Do they meet you at your home for handover or do you have to go to head office? No need to go to head office thankfully. I just added a quick blog post with the process as per the letter they sent us today. Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 613Jan 22, 2018 9:32 am I went out to our yesterday, fixing stage now complete. Painting is booked in start of Feb. I noticed the kitchen cupboards with damage, i don't know why tradies are so careless, seems like they have no respect for other peoples homes. The doors and draws are a easy a replacement but some panels are damaged, these panels are the actual base of the cabinetry, these will be a costly exercise to fix. We are still waiting for waterproofing to be completed, they haven't even waterproofed the balcony yet and when it rains heavily we get water at inside doe to the balcony not being waterproofed. The build has been very slow, very frustrating and hardly any tradies workings on site. Its been 10 months since we started and it looks like a April finish. I thought that waterproofing must be done first and than vanity installs? Or does it not matter in which order they are done? I am starting to wonder if the Colourtech is a product that is easily damaged. So disappointing as it was one of the most expensive upgrades in our entire build. Our waterproofing was definitely done before cabinets and included the floor under the cabinets. See pics here: https://wordpress.com/post/waldorfgrang ... ss.com/906 I also know of a customer who accidentally let the master ensuite bath overflow and water seeped through into the dining room below because the waterproofing had not been done properly. I am starting to wonder if the Colourtech is a product that is easily damaged. So disappointing as it was one of the most expensive upgrades in our entire build. It's one of the reasons we pursued with the formwrap, even after PD told us it was more expensive (which it isn't). I've had 2 pack painted cabinetry in the first house I built and they do chip and scratch, as it's just like car paint. My last house I reno'd I put in shaker profiled cabinetry but instead went vinyl formwrap at the advice of the kitchen company we used. Reason being, we have a very curious dog that loves to stand on his back legs and put his paws up on the bench top to see whats happening in the kitchen, and when he decides he's had enough and drops back down, his claws go down the face of the cabinets. They are more hard wearing and less susceptible to damage. In saying that, they all have their pros and cons. At the time when I was researching both options, there were some complaints of vinyl wrapped panels bubbling under the surface, likely due to heat. These reviews were quite old, so I imagine the process and products may have improved. The company we went with offered 10 years warranty so that was good enough for us. We have since sold that house, but in the 3 years we had it, we have no complaints. Any word back on the different renders from PD? That's a decent size chip out of the front pillar as well, is there much that can be done about it? Any word back on the different renders from PD? That's a decent size chip out of the front pillar as well, is there much that can be done about it? I sent the site supervisor a list of outstanding things and included the two different render colours. He wrote back that he will get the contractors onto the list so I presume they will do it but he hasn't specifically addressed that one point either way. I emailed the pic to him and the building coordinator and she replied she has saved it to our file. I haven't yet mentioned about the chip in the pillar.
