Timeless Grey is such a great choice, and yes, can't wait to see the white windows etc "pop" against the darker colour! Our 37sq Custom Hamptons Inspired Home: http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86931 There were very few render colours to choose from - the downside of a volume builder. However we found a combo for the facade that we think will compliment each other and I’ve waited all year to see if it looks good. Hard to know when looking at a handful of swatches. I would have loved to be able to pick from the entire Wattyl and Dulux ranges but I guess their narrow range made the decision easier as less deliberating. It was the only dark grey they had. The display home had a much lighter render over the hebel and you could see water stains running down it, even though it was less that two years old. This made us go for the darker grey option. - View my blog at http://www.waldorfgrangebuild.wordpress.com Yeah definitely nervous choosing from a swatch. I was so determined to get paint pots and test colours but couldn’t be bothered in the end. I think if you see enough examples it’s reassuring and your choice is definitely tried and tested. I’m still nervous/ reluctant to choose an interior colour. That’s going be an ordeal! I must admit I’m surprised that the range you could choose from was so limited. Wonder why that is? The colour should make no difference to the cost unless they can somehow get a special discount on them. What was the lighter choice, can you recall? I know they have definitely used shale grey which is what we are using, and Raku for a darker grey Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 526Nov 23, 2017 2:39 pm Dani_J Waldorf_Grange_Build Dani_J Must have been a glitch, it's now working Really coming along nicely. It was like a cream and white looking facade. See photo below I took of the display. It doesn't look creamy at all to me. The display home in Victoria was listed as Ashlite Half but I believe it was Ashlite full. I took two render samples from World of Style and compared them to the actual render on the display. The full Ashlite was a lot more grey than the half. But in certain lights it was too creamy for my liking. Also in World of Style even the render samples of the same colour had variations. Each batch is not the same. I think we will stick with the Ashlite half. I've been to the QLD display more times than I can count and have seen it throughout different times of the day and really loved the colour in person. Those photos you posted above look much greyer than the photo from the PD website of the Waldof Grange. They said the Victorian display was Ashlite half but it wasn't. Just be careful the QLD display doesn't have the same error, calling the full strength the half strength. Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 532Nov 24, 2017 12:39 pm Hi Guys, Just so you are aware we went ashlite full strength and it looks as the display in Greenvale. Asklite half is creamy, i will take pictures and show you guys when i go there over the weekend. I love the ashlite full look...... Porter Davis Waldorf Grange, 50 Grand Lounge Room Grand Theater Room Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 533Nov 24, 2017 12:50 pm Yeah I thought the ashlite half looked a bit creamy on the little colour cards at WOS, but seeing it on a large scale in person as per that photo I posted above, it really doesn't look creamy at all. This is from the back. We were really torn between going a darker grey or lighter grey, but because we are building by the water, we felt the lighter grey really went with the bayside feel of our area. And the white balcony. And the lights either side of the windows. I think that looks much better than the Vic display. If I knew those options were available I would have added them. Is the whole top floor cladding? - View my blog at www.waldorfgrangebuild.wordpress.com Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 538Nov 24, 2017 2:30 pm Waldorf_Grange_Build Here’s another pic of the Ashlite. That's probably a good idea. I think because we are continuing the weatherboard cladding the around the entire top floor, having 3 different colours will break up the grey a bit We have gone the same as the photos I posted of the QLD display which are: Pebble Grey 3/4 strength for the cladding Wattyl White for the moulding Ashlite half for the render EDIT: Yes we've also gone the same as the QLD display with the rear terrace balustrade to match the front of the house. We've also gone with the wall mounted lights at the rear also. We also had the option for the timber feature posts at the rear for the terrace and alfresco, which we have done as well. I should probably start my own build thread actually. Our build is due to start in January.
