Your house sits high and mighty and looks like it's the best one on the street. Thanks, I've got quite a few singles on my side, there's a massive double opposite me but I still think mine is nicer:-) Being higher up is also great as I end up with a city facing view that's not really blocked Then the rest of the doubles seem to be up the road and again mostly on the opposite side of the road. Well done honestly landscaping isnt that difficult just labour intensive and time consuming. Considering the ridiculous quotes you get these days though ill continue to DIY Re: My Metricon Phoenix in Melbourne 525Apr 10, 2017 12:57 am Renman kylz4 So do you mean you just got normal ducted heating through metricon and you are looking to add on refrigerated cooling to it now? I didn't know that was an option! What sort of price have you been quoted from those that said it was possible? No. I got a quote from M to have to refrigerated cooling with a Actron unit. But I wanted to see if I can get a 3rd party contractor to quote and install the same or similar unit after handover to see if it would be cheap than M or not. Hi, Just wondering if it's best to do ducted AC separately after handover instead of going with the builder for a single storey house? Did you decide on something after your research? Please let us know. Thanks for your help! Re: My Metricon Phoenix in Melbourne 526Apr 10, 2017 12:31 pm Your house looks amazing. I love the way it's facing too. Love the way the sun shines on it. You look like your in a nice position. My Metricon Phoenix in Melbourne 527Apr 11, 2017 8:37 am Your kitchen looks awesome, how wide is the space between your island bench and stove benchtop ? If you're going to use the same duct work, perhaps look at the cost of ensuring your unit is compatible with add on cooling and also ductwork increased. Otherwise they can just run more ductwork just for ducted cooling through say an inverted system later. Another option is to only do the ground floor and have individual split on top. In our case we have the sink in BP also so doesn't cause any issues & dishwasher is also on the right side of the island and it's a pretty long bench. Personal opinion obviously. Might be best to go check out displays and take some measurements Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=85381#p1630392 Re: My Metricon Phoenix in Melbourne 535Apr 16, 2017 10:47 am Hampshire has 1180mm as a standard but we increased ours to 1400mm. Our current kitchen layout is 1100mm so we didn't want to have the same problem in the new house. So going to 1400mm was an easy decision since there's no impact to the area between the living/dinning area. Did you decide on something after your research? Please let us know. Thanks for your help! Jason, Great work - the house looks amazing! And the landscaping too.. I'm dreading that part. Voz, that's what we did with the single storey. I think the savings to go aftermarket are about 30%. Having said that, make sure you have enough space for the a/c unit that you want. We are doing both ducted heating and bolt on cooling after handover. Re: My Metricon Phoenix in Melbourne 537Apr 22, 2017 4:22 pm Did a little shopping today...we've been looking for ages for a coffee table for the formal lounge & didn't want to spend a lot...I wanted marble however the budget didn't allow so we settled for this contemporary black frame with glass - I actually really like it. There's also a console table which will go well in the entry but we can do that later! Here's the lounge again which I think will go well with the table...all we need to do now is get the TV mounted to the wall and maybe a nice painting for the wall and that room should be complete.
