A J B Fairmont Build 2016

I have been lurking these pages since January 2016.
We purchased a block of land in December 2015 and signed up with Fairmont Homes the same month. We have just been given the green light to start construction in June 2016 after what seemed like a stressful selections and finance process!
Our notice that construction will start in 3 - 6 weeks arrived 1st June 2016 only to receive a call on 2nd June from the footings contractor to say they want to start on Monday 6th June!! They are desperate for footing works at the moment in the Adelaide area which is what we had heard!!
Yikes it's all starting to happen real soon

I hope my feed can help others like yours has helped me. I love looking at all the pictures so I will try and make my posts very picture orientated and try and let you know what selection choices we have chosen to go with. This is something I struggled with the most, I only hope what we have decided will come together nicely when it's all complete!

Best Wishes
I have spent countless hours driving past homes looking at roofs, gutters and facia variations trying to compliment brick colour, my head was spinning, we just hope what we have chosen will look nice!

Bricks - Austral Muscat Grey (we have chosen white mortar though)
Colour swatches shown are Monument for Down Pipes, Wallaby for Roof & Gutters & Dune for Facias

Bricks & Colour Swatches as above
Render Colour top of pic - Mountain Shadow

Someones Home with same Brick and Roof Colour we have chosen

And another Home I found with same Brick and Roof Colour we have chosen

Same Home as above but Wallaby Roof has thrown a different shade this time, I got the 2 varying colours on a number of occasions when driving past this home, one with a browner tone (I quiet like this look) and the other a greyer tone like in this pic depending on the light!

Decisions are locked in now, no changing ones mind, my partner is grateful for that lol!!!

Best Wishes
Just to let you know yes I have knocked on doors to ask people what colour their home selections are as it seems to be the only way to know for sure. Most of my experience has been positive and they have been happy to help me despite feeling like I have been a stalker from lurking past in my car and taking a quick snap shot and I have also snuck up to put my samples against their homes to see if they are the same
Most people are proud of their new homes and are happy to help.
Haha, we too have felt like stalkers and asked homeowners their colour choices. We've had positive experiences too and hopefully they feel flattered that someone likes it enough to ask. I like your colour choices, I think they compliment each other well

Thank you Marshall5858 appreciate that, time will tell
House Plans - We have chosen a 'Modified Cambridge' by Fairmont Homes

Our main changes that we made were increased size of Home Theatre, Bed 3 & 4, added a Walk in Pantry (that would have been a deal breaker if not achieved) & we separated the kitchen bench to make it an island. The entry to the kitchen has also been widened!

We just loved the feel of the show home and look forward to spending many years in our new home!
Our Block of Land
523sq mtrs
14mtrs wide 34.57 RHS 40.21 LHS

Lovely floorplan, very family friendly. We're going to be building in SA too but in the South. Our block is 15m across and 33m back
That is a great sized block! Good luck with your build Marshall5858
Hahaha I love that you knock on doors to find out there colours.

I love your brick colour, it is simply gorgeous!

Very lovely floor plan and a nice size block!
Thank you charlibear, footing contractor starting tomorrow
How exciting for you today!!!
Day 1 of Construction

Footings started today, oh my what a mess lol!!
Nice to see the block starting to take shape!

Yay!!
Day 3 & we have progress!!

Trenches & Plumbing are done!

Mesh & Peers have been delivered and likely to be on the agenda for tomorrow.

We just spoke to our footings contractor Henry (such a nice bloke) he thinks if all goes to plan we could have a slab on Friday!!!

Exciting
Day 4 Plastic & Mesh is down.

Just had a call from Henry (love that he keeps us in the loop), looks like it's Tuesday for the Slab being laid now as they have had another job that didn't go to plan today due to the wet weather. We are all good with that, in this case I would much prefer the sun to dry the ground out a little over the weekend and fingers crossed we have good weather conditions on Tuesday.

What a muddy mess!!

Howdy neighbour, I bet you are excited for Tuesday, hoping the rain stays away for you! It was nice to see your colour choices, they will look nice together, dune is an awesome colour
Bring on Tuesday!! How many sqm is your house? It looks massive

Hey Heather, Yes very excited thank you, and I think we have been seriously lucky with the weather, we are fairly confident that the sunshine will hold out! So much happening out there atm!!
I am hopeful with our external colour choices and can't wait to see it all come together, thank you!
Good luck with your stormwater, not sure if you have received quotes yet but we have found that Spencer Stormwater Specialists have quoted the most affordable so far.
Take Care will see you around
