I'm building with M too and our slab is due for pour on Monday/Tuesday. Really exciting to see your frames go up. Based on timings, i'd say you're about a month ahead of me! Please keep the photos coming, as its great to compare notes and see whats happening with others who are building with M. I was waiting all day for my husband to finish work so we could go see it together! It was like Christmas! No doubt there will be more complaints! I'm just going to have to learn to ignore them. We are hoping to have the roof on before Christmas. You? Just sent you a PM. We're building a Newhaven 36 as its one of the few designs that fits out block as we have a 22m frontage. The house is about 16.6m wide but fairly shallow at only 16.1m deep. I doubt we will have the roof on before x'mas. If slab is poured this week, needs a month to cure and then will take them maybe two weeks to get the frames up. So thats already early to mid December so I don't fancy my chances at this stage. Yours is should have the roof on by then. Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 (Verve) Sydney 113Oct 27, 2016 1:35 pm Wow, I can't believe they just put all the window frames on the floor like that. Make sure you take loads of pics and note any scratches in the glass and frames. I've spent nearly $4k upgrading my glass to Smart Glass so i'll be a bit unhappy if thats how my windows are left on site. I would have thought they exercise some timing in the delivery since in the contract I've been charged $1.4k for Site Handling..... "To include doubling handling of materials, shade cloth for scaffolding and multiple deliveries" Hi Nomnom, what's smart glass? Metricon Liberty 45 in Ryde NSW viewtopic.php?t=82846 Viridian Smart Glass. It's basically 6.3mm glass with some stuff baked into it (i.e. not a film) that can be used as an alternative to double glazing to keep the heat out in summer (north and west facing windows) and the heat in during winter. As we're building with Hebel, we wanted to source an affordable glazing solution to retain the energy efficient properties that Hebel and a properly insulated wall and roof gives. Especially so since we have a North to rear aspect for our block. We did enquire about double glazing but were told a) it's over kill for the Sydney climate b) you'd only need it in sydney for acoustic insulation c) it would cost us over $25k Hopefully it will pay off in the longer run through reduced heating and cooling bills in winter and summer. http://www.smartglass.com.au Cheers Nom Newhaven 36 by M Blog - North Shore Newhaven (http://nsnewhaven.blogspot.com.au) Build - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=85092 Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 (Verve) Sydney 117Oct 30, 2016 6:32 am Hi Sophie, we are at the planning stage and have an issue with our easement. We are local to you and want to asked if you were a beneficiary to the easement you have mentioned? We have been told that NB council will allow use of an easement regardless provided the plumbing is okay, eg pipe size? Thanks Angela Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 (Verve) Sydney 118Oct 30, 2016 6:31 pm Hi, we had to apply to use the easement however we were granted access we just needed to have the work certified & comply with council requirements. So use the products and construct it in the way that council specified. We were pleased we were able to do this as it helped to save a fair Chunk of money, however that was only because my husband and his friend did the work. Did you avoid building stormwater pit / osd by directing water into an easement ? Or have I misunderstood Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 (Verve) Sydney 120Oct 31, 2016 6:32 am No we had to build our own storm water pit & then direct the water into the easement. All up it ended up costing about $3k as opposed $18k that M quoted. Hi, First of all, thank you to this community for sharing your thoughts and opinions.
