Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 11, 2016 3:28 pm Henley are building next door to us and in the process of laying their slab they completely covered our nice new brickwork with splatters of concrete. After a month they've done nothing about it and keep promising me it'll get fixed but then nothing happens. Is there anyone I can report them to for the damage to get things moving or get them fined etc? Thanks. Re: Damage by next doors builder 2May 11, 2016 3:48 pm Have you put the complaint to them formally, i.e. in writing? Have they responded formally? If so then maybe you could look at getting an injunction against them doing any further work until they commit to rectification. Have you talked to the site supervisor of the house next door? Have you talked to your site supervisor? We had an issue with our neighbour's builder damaging something of ours, I first contacted our site supervisor who said he would chase it up and also advised me to ring as well. I had to ring a few times and eventually got the neighbour's SS phone number and contacted him directly -also multiple times- before our issue got fixed. Make sure you keep a log of when you called them and who you spoke with. You might have to wait until the other house's bricks are done and being cleaned before they send someone out to do yours (killing two birds with one stone and all of that). I think the only thing that got next door into gear was that I said we had our landscaper coming and the issue had to be fixed (when their bricks got delivered they ran over our inspection shaft and broke it and the concrete collar/lid on top of it). I'm not sure what else you can do beyond keeping on top of the issue. Not sure what it would have to do with mine as we've handed over and it's not his problem in any way. Just wondered if there was an official body I could complain to in the same way that I can contact the council if they make a load of noise before 7am. Just wondered if there was an official body I could complain to in the same way that I can contact the council if they make a load of noise before 7am. How long have you been handed over for? I know it's not his problem but sometimes they are able to call for you SS to SS to get things sorted out (that's what happened with us - we found our issue the day we got keys and it was a few weeks/a month of dealing with trying to get things fixed). I'm not saying your SS should fix it but maybe they can call and get the ball moving a little? It's really frustrating, sorry you're dealing with it. I have my money on them waiting until they clean their bricks though. Perhaps I'm wording my searches wrong? When you have car insurance and the… 0 6619 there was an event. The question is whether the builder had the insurance and whether the event was covered. The workmanship is a separate conversation. 10 23755 |
