Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 10, 2016 10:55 pm We are hoping to build our dream home for this point in our lives and have decided to build with Ben trager. This is for a few reasons.
1. Price 2. design 3. A great sales consultant 4. price! 1. We think for the price we are getting the most value. We are at the moment sitting at $371 000 for 345.56 m2 (internal space is 279.74m2) with flooring, painting, aircon, upgraded door, fridge plumbing, 3 phase power, extra changes to plans, storage space under stairs, site works and $2000 pre start allowance. 2. We have settled on the Leschot master up, but altered the designs. This was such an easy process and did not change the price of the house much at all. We got rid of the downstairs guest room, adding two bedrooms a half bath and separate toilet. We changed the layout of the upstairs to allow for two walk in robes. We extended the living area which also allowed for a study (toy area) to be put in. We change the windows on the front of the top to two bigger opening windows and the window in theater room to smaller higher ones. All up we have been able to get 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, three wc, study, retreat and theater in. They also added the area for the pool into their planning. The front windows have been changed since then. 3. Great sales consultant who was able to draw different ideas on the spot instead of going of, drawing and redrawing plans. So yeah great experience. We have been really lucky finding the perfect block that will allow a pool, space for the kids to play, an outdoor kitchen and space for our caravan. We were originally looking for an acre block but found it impossible to find in an area where siteworks wouldn't break the bank. All in all we are really happy at the moment. This is our third build so we are going in with our eyes wide open and are not compromising on quality or workmanship. We have only had one issue with our current build and I withheld payment until the issues were fixed (stalled the build for 3 weeks but I was adamant that I was not paying and that was sorted quickly). Starting to get excited for final contracts now and are making our color choices. Any advice on how two story builds differ would be great, and what we need to be aware off (other then slow build times and lousy workmanship, more like issues with building two story!) Thanks and thanks for following our journey.
