Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 09, 2016 5:29 pm Hi all..... I love 4 Dulux colours that are pretty similar in colour. I want the colour to be a grey-coffee colour - NOT full on coffee colour (light brown) The 4 Dulux coloues are called: 1. Grand piano 2. Buff it 3. Beige Royal 4. Sandy Day If anyone has any info on these colours...or photos, or reviews....I will love you forever!!! The colour I choose will be for the exterior of the house - and I was told for the outside of the house to go 2 - 4 shades darker (Because of the sun hitting it) PLEASE HELP!!!!! Re: DULUX COLOUR for outside of house.I have 4. Need to choo 2May 09, 2016 7:04 pm People offered advice on the last thread you started about this, and on other threads, and you didn't reply. Have you bought sample pots? Have you painted up boards to see how the colours look outside and in different aspects? Google image search all the colours, but pics will look different than in person. I'm not sure what you mean by a review of a colour?! Colours can be hard, we can offer a lot of advice about colours, as has been done, but nothing beats buying sample pots and seeing the colours on a bigger scale. Re: DULUX COLOUR for outside of house.I have 4. Need to choo 3May 09, 2016 7:31 pm Last thread was for interior colours not exterior. I have narrowed it down from 10 colours to 4 - and was wanting help on people that have used these colours - If they could post photos or tell us what the colours look like under different sunlight, etc ....I am new to this site, therefore not really great at finding where people are responding, as I don't get notified by email for some reason even tho I have requested to be notified....Anywaysssss, bare with me please CHEERS!!! Re: DULUX COLOUR for outside of house.I have 4. Need to choo 5May 10, 2016 5:23 am This is the thread I was referring to - viewtopic.php?f=6&t=82981&p=1540132&hilit=Sandy+day#p1540132 it was about exterior colours and there was a number of suggestions thrown out and no feedback. I am trying to help you. Colours look different to different people, I see Sandy Day with a hint of peach, others see pink. Beige Royale I see as a true beige and not grey, you may see more grey in it. Without feedback from you about how you are seeing the colours, it's hard to know what to suggest. As I said, you could google search all of those colours and the pics may not be a true representation. How people describe the colour will differ from person to person so you'll still be flying blind to a certain extent. Have you bought sample pots? If you're down to 4 colours, buy the four pots and paint up the boards. The colours will look different in northern light as opposed to southern light. Work out the aspect of your house and where the colour is most important to you - facade or where your outdoor entertaining area is - then check the colours in that aspect. I'm not sure if you want any contrast or if you want it all to blend with the White trim because these 4 colours will give very little contrast at all, especially in direct sunlight. I've lost count of the times we've sold exterior paint and the client has come back to have it tinted darker because it washed out far more than they expected. I can only reiterate what I'd tell any client in person - buy sample pots. It's a small investment to make to potentially avoid a costly mistake. Re: DULUX COLOUR for outside of house.I have 4. Need to choo 7May 10, 2016 7:39 am Thanks...but in that thread there was no feedback on the 'Sandy Day' colour Anyways all good...I have ordered a4 swatches from Dulux on these 4 colours - When my house and painters are ready (Which wont be for a few more months) I will order sample pots and test them all out of the render on different areas of the house. PS - Only want to use Dulux paint Re: DULUX COLOUR for outside of house.I have 4. Need to choo 9May 10, 2016 8:03 am I haven't read the original thread (so bare with me) but I think you might find those colours very light when outside - lighter colours will reflect light and look even lighter. If you are after a coffee (latte?) type colour, consider Coffee Clay. The darker version of this is Caramel Sundae. Toffee Fingers is another popular one, especially for outside. Another tip is that most Bunnings have a Dulux book, which shows all colours in their spectrum (not just the current ones). You just have to ask to see it - the book is great as you can see a particular shade and then by going up and down, the lighter and darker versions. The Dulux app is also really good. Good luck..... My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Re: DULUX COLOUR for outside of house.I have 4. Need to choo 10May 10, 2016 8:23 am Also, you can get your sample pots now. It's worth getting them and painting up some boards and playing around with them. If you wait til the painters are ready you'll be rushed into your decision. Be aware the swatches are only as close to the colour as printing will allow and they are not the same finish as the paint itself will be. That does affect how the colour will appear. As said above, and said a number of times in other threads, the colours you are looking at will wash out to an almost white outside. I know I'm repeating myself, but if you find colours difficult, and a lot of people do, the early you get sample pots and start seeing the colours on a large scale, the better. Re: DULUX COLOUR for outside of house.I have 4. Need to choo 11May 10, 2016 12:57 pm There's really not much between these colours, and if one would be ok, then the others would probably be fine as well. Beige Royal and Sandy Day are a bit greyer. Grand Piano and Beige Royal are slightly yellower compared to Buff It and Sandy Day, which are more toward red. I'd get a sample of "Grand Piano". If it's just a bit too yellow, Buff It will go a bit redder, or Beige Royal will be greyer. Sandy Day will be both greyer and redder. But based on the sample, you may want to change the colour more significantly, like to a darker or lighter shade. The dulux colour atlas is handy, as it lays out all the colours by the hue by page, saturation (colour->grey) by column, and lightness by row. Hi Alex, Thanks for the reply again.
