Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 04, 2016 3:03 pm Hi all, Can someone please help identify what this item is? looks like a cover for some sort of drain? http://s32.postimg.org/u3fyg3jol/image1_3.jpg We are in the process of building a home and this item is near the fence border and will be at where our intended backyard will be. Will this be in the way or will it have any effect on my future home? Thank you Re: Help with identifying what this is in vacant land 2May 04, 2016 4:08 pm Do you have an easement? In easements they have whatever and you always have to make sure it's clear for trades. Maybe telephone or electricity lines? Your contract should say this Re: Help with identifying what this is in vacant land 4May 05, 2016 8:13 am We have something similar in a similar place in our yard. Your land contract should tell you what it is and it should be within an easement at the back of your property. We have covered ours with soil & grass. If it ever needs accessing it's not a huge deal (truthfully the grass won't grow on it so I might put some potted plants there), just don't build any permanent structures over it and you should be fine. Depending on how big your block of land is, how big your house is and how big your easement is will determine if it affects your building plans (ours didn't).
