Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 02, 2016 9:57 pm I'm preparing for a KDR and am looking at abolishing the electricity connection. My retailer has asked whether I would like to actually abolish the supply or just setup a temporary builders supply. What have other people done in this circumstance? I am still working out if the current house will be knocked down or removed - should this have any bearing on my decision? Thanks Re: KDR - abolishing electricity connection 2May 03, 2016 8:27 am From what I understand you need to abolish all gas and electricity prior to a knock down, once house is knocked down, we then had to get a pole to pit installed through United energy ( underground electricity put) prior to any building works. the building company (in my case Henley) then applied for electricity for the duration of the build through their chosen supplier. Maybe speak with your builder or your demo company and they will know more that's just my personal experience with our Builder. Hope that helps and good luck with your build, knock downs are more timely but you ultimately end up in a much better spot in the suburb you want! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81627&p=1505759#p1505759 Re: KDR - abolishing electricity connection 3May 03, 2016 8:54 am We're going through the KDR process and most demo companies won't come on site unless all gas and electricity is abolished. As Jane has stated, an underground pit (depending what State you are in) will need to be arranged (via the wholesaler) and the builder will arrange power to the site with their preferred retailer.
