I don't understand why they wouldn't just fix it. This would cost a lot more than just fixing what they stuffed up. I am surprised that they make reference to standards and tolerances with no reference to Australian Standards. Last time (several years ago) when I referenced standards and tolerances the barrister went to town with it. From then on, I never used that again. Re: Builder ordered to demolish slab for wrong level 8May 03, 2016 7:27 am Guide to Standards and Tolerances should be renamed "Standards for Dummies" because that is all it is good for. Whilst the guide is in principle a good document but just a guide "not a standard", the way it is applied"as if it is a standard" is not proper. The idea that the guide can formalise defects and take judgment out is stupid and dangerous because builders use it to try to justify defects that they would not acccept in their own home. In builders bible, guide is the book of "Escape" To give you analogy of what I mean, just imagine we don't have judges but just a book of mandatory sentences for every crime and infringement. That is what formalising of building defects means.
