Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 04, 2008 5:55 pm Hi all,
I've been having a dabble on Paint Shop and looking for some opinions on our facade & colours please. This is the original facade from the display home, (Burbank Stoneleigh - Saldar Facade):- Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We can't have the same door, (won't bore you with the details, closest we can have is a 4 panel door as shown) - we have changed the feature bricks to go right accross the front with cement sheeting above, we have gone for two long windows to the front lounge and balanced it with two windows above in main bedroom. Also, we have swapped the spare bed window over the garage for two smaller ones to balance. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And this is it with our colours:- Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Contrast brick is Austral Blue Stone split face 390x40mm - as pics, but with off-white grout. This is to front facade only. The area above the contrast bricks is painted cement sheet with a vertical groove in it. This runs right around the house. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bricks to the garage, house sides and rear are Austral Nougat, with off-white morter though. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Not sure whether to play it safe and go with the display colours, as at least we know exactly what it will look like - or gamble on our grey version? Any opinions would be greatly received. Thanks. Re: Opinions on our facade please.... 2Aug 04, 2008 6:36 pm Hello!
Firstly, I love the balancing you've done with the windows. I think it really makes the house look much better than the default. Second, I love the second picture you have there, the one with the standard builder colours. It's very natural looking, very tasteful. Good job on the photo shopping! Have you decided for sure to go with the darker bricks across the front? I personally like the second picture more than the third. I think the bricks are a bit over done all the way across. Understand if you don't want to say, but why couldn't you have the door you wanted? Reason I ask is that I'm quite keen on that door style, so am interested in what might have prevented you having it. We don't mind the colours on the second pic, but not sold on them. We just can't decide whether to gamble on the grey. It looks great in my mind - but how it will look in real life is another matter. It will look far better than my photo shop effort though. If we settle for the display colours it's the safe option as we know what it will look like, but we may wonder forever more how it would have looked with our colours. We couldnt have the door because, even though it's on the display homes, it's not from the builders supliers - so they wont give us it! (big bone of contention that one). The alternatives were a simiar one, but with more glass which looked too open, or the one we have photoshopped, which is similar to the display but only 4 glass slots. - still a 1200 wide pivot though. For reference, we have to use Corinthean doors and the one on the display is a Russell Williams door, (Linea 7G). Re: Opinions on our facade please.... 5Aug 04, 2008 7:56 pm haywgl Awesome job! I like what you have done! I like those dark grey bricks, they make a real feature of your home! Great job!! Cheers. We do like the grey, just can't decide! It might come down to the toss of a coin. I might have another bash at photo shop when I get time and see if I can do a better job with the grey. Re: Opinions on our facade please.... 7Aug 04, 2008 8:35 pm Hi Tony & Emma,
I like what you've done with the windows too - looks more symmetrical and pleasing to the eye. Yes I'd take a punt and go the grey! It looks great on screen and will look even better in real life! Re: Opinions on our facade please.... 9Aug 04, 2008 9:53 pm I have to say, I like the balance of the colour selection in this render, but with the
dark brick in the render below. http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg152/besterfield/2-NewFacade-OriginalColours.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg152/besterfield/3-NewFacade-NewColours.jpg Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Opinions on our facade please.... 10Aug 05, 2008 12:40 pm Thanks for all the comments - looks like grey is the current winner.
Michelle - the light cement sheeting wont actually be as light as that ad will complement the garage brick and stone face more - I just didn't have a swatch, so couldn't remember exactly what it looked like, (plus my Photoshop skills were limited to increasing the brightness only on the cement sheet area - I couldn't figure out how to change the colour of it.) The colour we have currently picked for the cement sheet is Bristol - Autumn Breeze. We'll be going back to the colours place to see all the things put together again, I'll get a photo this time to remind me. Thank you @. Tried to play with the facade models but the exact colour is not matching up. 2 3947 This is a no brainer. Take them to someone else to get finalised. You can't leave your destiny in the hands of someone who is completely underperforming. I know someone… 1 267 Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering.
