Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Alkimos Aveling first timers! 42Sep 05, 2016 3:37 pm ZoePerth Thanks Mon, what are u scheduled for this week? I've no idea what a tile meeting involves Who knows! I'm assuming the stone goes in. We have had ZERO contact from home group since the slab went down. Lucky we only live 1km from our site and pop in everyday! Tile meeting just involves discussing with tiler where you would like joins etc, if you plan on doing any full height tiling etc because they have to lay the tiles a certain way- so it's just to discuss the laying etc. so exciting though! Not long to go! Mon Re: Alkimos Aveling first timers! 43Sep 05, 2016 3:48 pm Oh ok that's doesn't sound too complicated lol. We have contact from Aveling every two weeks telling us what is due to happen and we live half a km away! I often know before they email us as it happens earlier than scheduled 😂 Touch wood for your stone x Re: Alkimos Aveling first timers! 45Sep 05, 2016 10:22 pm Love your render colours! They go so well together Re: Alkimos Aveling first timers! 46Sep 05, 2016 10:32 pm MrsMaccaPacca Love your render colours! They go so well together Thank you! They're quite soft and washed out looking which is nice. Kudos to this forum as I googled the two colours and saw someone on here who had used them together. If it wasn't for her photos I would have been really stuck! Re: Alkimos Aveling first timers! 47Sep 07, 2016 11:39 am Had tile meeting and should have keys mid November at the latest and end October at the earliest! Pool people have install scheduled for Nov26th so as long as they can get permits in time that date can stay and the flooring people are happy to bring their install date forward to November too. Exciting! So much to organise now... 😊 Re: Alkimos Aveling first timers! 48Sep 07, 2016 3:46 pm Your render colour choices look fabulous Stilettos & Bricks -our Building Journey Blog https://stilettosbricks.com viewtopic.php?f=31&t=85183&hilit=secret+harbour Re: Alkimos Aveling first timers! 50Sep 07, 2016 5:28 pm Your build is fantastic Zoe! and i love the flooring you have chosen (we are finding it difficult to choose between tiles, floorboards or vinyl). I can't believe that you may be in by november, we were told before christmas. What paint colours have you chosen? Re: Alkimos Aveling first timers! 51Sep 07, 2016 5:55 pm Nyan Your build is fantastic Zoe! and i love the flooring you have chosen (we are finding it difficult to choose between tiles, floorboards or vinyl). I can't believe that you may be in by november, we were told before christmas. What paint colours have you chosen? Oh thank you! Paint colours we are getting to start with is solver kitty grey. After we've lived in it for a while we will look at feature walls. We had a lovely rich dark brown (not red toned) wall at our old home called oswego tea which I loved. Might need more grey toned than brown now though to blend with everything else. For some unknown reason the tile lady who was so good, and suggested we use the floor tiles cut down for laundry skirting didn't suggest it for the other wet rooms. And I didn't pick that up. So the site super reminded me this week of this during our tiles meeting, and checked that was what we still wanted and I explained I had zero memory of it but yes that would be fine. He didn't ask about the other rooms, or that they'd be different and now I'm sad 😢 Look Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It's nothing major I know, but seems silly to have different skirtings. And I love how the grout lines match up in proper ocd style in the laundry. I think maybe the selection for the other skirting to be 'same as wall tile' originated because we asked for prices for full height tiling in loos and bathrooms. Argh. I have to not obsess over this! Kitchen splash back has been done but forgot photo due to obsessing over the skirting drrraaaama lol Re: Alkimos Aveling first timers! 55Sep 10, 2016 12:20 am emzz Love your selections! it all works so well together and your waterfall edges on your kitchen benches OMG!! That is defiantly on the list for our next build haha Thank you Emzz. I do like the waterfall ends quite a lot 👐 Re: Alkimos Aveling first timers! 56Sep 10, 2016 12:35 am ZoePerth Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Tiling started today. I like the look of the floor tile as the skirting, I wish we had our tile lady suggest this! Don't obsess to much over it though it looks great and in no time once you've got your accessories in you'll forget about it Re: Alkimos Aveling first timers! 58Sep 11, 2016 11:02 am Zoe I wouldn't stress too much! If it's really bothering you- you could get the tiler to rip them off and you can replace them with the same floor tiles? We have to do this in the laundry coz they have to handover the house "finished". Our tiler will stick them on lightly then we will rip them off to lay the floor tiles as skirting. It's all looking good!! Mon Re: Alkimos Aveling first timers! 59Sep 11, 2016 11:18 am Mon445 Zoe I wouldn't stress too much! He works horrible shifts so that doesn't help. It's probably one of those things you don't even notice after a while! What's the go at your place this week?
