I'd love to get some for our front room You should get a quote, they were cheaper than the blockout with sheers that we looked at getting and they look soooo good Re: Building with Simonds in Adelaide 1143Jul 14, 2017 11:18 am Beautiful Marshall! ❤️ We are still deciding if we like curtains through the whole house. Just worried about cleaning them and putting them back on. But we decided we'd worry about it when we are in our old age. Can't wait to get ours... I really hate curtains. I love the look, but sewing them, washing them, drying them, ironing them... I hate it. Especially I'm so short, I just struggle with the sheer size. I'm going to have to bite the bullet with the two glass sliding doors, and have them on there, but they'll be simple blockouts on a track. I dodged a bullet, and don't have to sew them, as my Mum had some old ones in the right colour. Thanking lucky stars! I love your wall colour! I totally agree with you regarding curtains, they're a pain but look great on the sliders. I would love the shutters throughout the rest of the house but they'll have to wait for now. Your place is going to look amazing, looking forward to seeing your new tiles down Re: Building with Simonds in Adelaide 1146Jul 14, 2017 7:46 pm I can't wait to have shutters - a quick wipe or vac and it's done! Yaaaaay, microfibre! Oh those tiles! Couldn't believe my luck when hubby said yes - only going to be on the pantry floor, though. And they were on spesh. The Great Conjunction is at hand! Hubby reckons he'll fall in if he stares at it too long. Wants to pay danger money to the tiler, for possible insanity effects... I'm reluctant to put up pics now, after what happened to you guys; takes all the fun out of homeone, not having pics, pics, and more pics. Here is a pic of the tiles on a wall. I've always been a geometry fan, plus the optical illusion bonus is... well... a bonus! I don't think I could stand the 'busy' in my bathroom, however... I will have to drop by and introduce myself once your place has handed over, yours is one of the builds I've been most excited to see unfold but I totally understand your reasons for no pics Re: Building with Simonds in Adelaide 1148Jul 16, 2017 7:40 am Oh yes please, do come up and have a visit - I'll be home most days. The floors will take a few days, and we're looking into having the garage floor coated with a polyurea finish, as well. So I'll PM you when there's something to walk on. Do you wanna see it when it's finished? Hahaha... I'll still have carpenter peeps and everyone coming in for a bit! Apparently we're on track to have handover the first or second week in October. I hope so, wanna make it before my b'day! Re: Building with Simonds in Adelaide 1149Jul 16, 2017 8:02 am JayaJaya Oh yes please, do come up and have a visit - I'll be home most days. I'd really love to see it when the tiles go down We have been looking at something to cover the garage floor but at the moment, it's still so full in there, we need to blitz our junk! Re: Building with Simonds in Adelaide 1150Jul 16, 2017 8:37 am hahhahaaaa... I'm trying to blitz our junk now! And not getting very far.... Hubby wanted the garage floor coated before we started going in and out with the trailer etc. Makes sense to get a non slip finish before we start moving white goods and big furniture. I'll send you a special invitation for the pantry tiling day, then Re: Building with Simonds in Adelaide 1152Jul 19, 2017 7:29 pm There's a Caesartone factory place out Larg's Bay way... I went there before making our final choices, so I could see larger pieces in person... nice to know they're quick off the mark! They were really helpful when I went there. I'm reluctant to use any of the commercial cleaners, though. I don't think I'm all that trusting when they say 'foodsafe' - I like to knead/roll out on my benches... I don't know what to do about that - does it have ingredients on the cleaner? I tested my samples with sharpie, beetroot, tumeric, all sorts of stuff left on for days. Most of it came off easily with soap. How are you finding the benches perform? I'm really liking the Caesarstone, it's so easy to clean, I must admit, I just use dishwashing liquid and steaming hot water when wiping down, no smears that way. This cream cleaner looks a lot like jif, unfortunately there's no ingredients on the bottle. Re: Building with Simonds in Adelaide 1155Jul 19, 2017 7:59 pm Marshall5858 Hi everyone, We've been busy settling in, unpacking and getting to know our new home & surroundings. We still love our home, although I'm asking myself why I chose white tiles on the ensuite floor!! They show every watermark, hair, dust etc, so glad it's only in one and not the main bathroom. Our spotlight curtains arrived. Beautiful but the blockout wasn't don't correctly and left us with around an inch extra fabric at the bottom! They are being remade, unfortunately another 3-4 week wait! This is the top, sheer, I love it's beautiful floaty look Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Spotlight will come back to fit new blockout and correct the rails. We've been slogging it in the garden, it had some really uneven parts so we've been leveling it with our neighbors excess soil, we're now adding some decent soil on the top so that turf can go down. We're also having another paved area done on Friday. Here's our work so far, I have the blisters to prove it! Lovely home... Thank you, we're really pleased with it. The blockout is closest to the glass, the sheers over the top to create a lovely floaty look. We chose the cheesecloth (not sure if that's the proper name) rather than the chiffon, it was much nicer and didn't have the shine that the chiffon had. I'm not sure if they have an official name, I just asked for blockout curtains (which are white) with sheers over the top Building with Simonds in Adelaide 1157Jul 19, 2017 10:01 pm We've had our first hiccup today. All this rain, combined with the instability of a large pipe (sewer I think) has resulted in part of our paving on the driveway collapsing. Our paving guy is great, came straight over and explained why it's happening, luckily the council guys were there so they were spoken to about packing out the pipe work so that our paving guy can fix the problem after. Bit annoying but he did warn us that it could happen Re: Building with Simonds in Adelaide 1158Jul 19, 2017 10:21 pm Oh pooey! Rain rain rain... problems! At least your whole driveway didn't slide - that would have been unamusing in the extreme. Lucky the council dudes were there to be told (off). I like the microfibre myself Aloenyx, but if you have dried on sauce, then a little of my homemade soap worked wonders... most of the sharpie came off with soap, isopropyl or metho. Funnily enough the green sharpie wanted to stick; kinda soaked in a tiny bit, but it came out with a little household bleach, which I rinsed off, wiped with vinegar water to neutralize the ph, and then rinsed again. The samples haven't yellowed at all, so I'm assuming all these methods are safe - it was about 12 months ago I did all the testing.
