Are you kidding me??? That's ridiculous!! Even more so than us waiting 2 months for frames to go up!!! Re: GJ Gardner - Mandalay 298 - QLD 345Mar 27, 2017 4:11 pm I know.... i even wrote up a word document with graphics so there is no loss in communication.... but it's just taking so long. Even when i write it up like this(graphic attached)... i hate to say it but i feel like there will still be things they get wrong... I've told them i can save everyone time if we can meet with the drafting company and i"d have it all sorted in 1 hour....but drafting companies reply was to come and visit and that i would need to pay for the time spent on making the changes.... which is so stupid as my changes are already included in the standard design process.. The drafting company is 1h further away than where we are building... they said they could come to gj's offices but i'd also have to pay for the time they take to drive to and from their offices... Im trying to help them... but they want to get more money from me...... zzzzz Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: GJ Gardner - Mandalay 298 - QLD 347Mar 31, 2017 4:28 pm So glad you finally got them back!!! I was going to start a thread once the floor plan was down pat... but i might just start one and see how i go I like the floorplan.. but communications and attention to detail with GJ isn't quiet there... Other people go through a "selections" processes but my local GJ said they don't actually have a selections showroom... that i go and find what i want and they will price it up .... They just sent me a "standard inclusions list" and said if you wnat anything else let us know and we'll give you a price to upgrade... is this the norm with GJ? after that they bring us in for colours ..... Anyways when i make my thread i'll let you know!!! I think because GJ are a custom builder and not a project builder you get more freedom to choose your own internals. Very interested to see your thread commence! Re: GJ Gardner - Mandalay 298 - QLD 351Jun 08, 2017 9:21 pm I enjoyed reading your build and progress. As we are building in this region hopefully in the second half of the year I loved your landscaping ideas, as our block is over 2000sqm. How far back did you site your home? Re: GJ Gardner - Mandalay 298 - QLD 352Jun 09, 2017 3:16 pm Cheers. We're really happy with how things have turned out, nearly 5 months on. Pretty much all the landscaping from the bottom garden sheds up are as we planned and make it very homely already. We have some big plans for the back area, which is adjacent bush reserve so will be like a whole new world from the 'backyard' but we've run out of money (and credit haha) so will be a next year project. We're standard 6m set-back which fits the street and area as well as giving us our real living space, the back area. We're stoked with our land size and couldn't imagine living on smaller land again. Good luck with your planning and the build. Re: GJ Gardner - Mandalay 298 - QLD 353Jun 10, 2017 2:21 am Hey Hazza, question for you, who did you get your pool through? I'm pretty sure your up near the Springfield area? We are south of you and I'm on the hunt for a pool company. I only know Gold Coast ones and they aren't keen on the travel. Congrats on your home too, it turned out beautifully. Re: GJ Gardner - Mandalay 298 - QLD 354Jun 10, 2017 7:24 am Hi Tribe, we're Fraser Coast area, so a few hours north of Brisbane. Ours is a local concrete pool builder. It's a good time to suss one out now before they get too busy in the warmer months. GJ Gardner - Mandalay 298 - QLD 355Jun 10, 2017 9:09 am Sorry Hazza it must be Ads I'm thinking of. Wow your in a beautiful spot up the coast. With your concrete pool did you need piering? Our soil is a E classification and has decided to become expensive to put a pool in. Re: GJ Gardner - Mandalay 298 - QLD 356Jun 10, 2017 9:18 am They did put some concrete piering in as the pool is 2m from the house. Re: GJ Gardner - Mandalay 298 - QLD 357Jun 12, 2017 1:35 pm Hi Hazza, may you please post more pictures of your pool area showing the pool, edging, gardens around it, fencing, and the slope at the back of the pool? We'd like to put a pool in but thought we'd need a retaining wall, but you've sloped it? How high do you think it's raised at the back? Thanks heaps. Re: GJ Gardner - Mandalay 298 - QLD 358Jun 12, 2017 11:25 pm Thanks Hazza, our pool is 3 and a half meters off the house and we need piers around the perimeter of the pool and then piers to be tied into the edge beam of the fibre glass pool for our soil classification . I'm thinking concrete might be a better option??? Cat we have a 600mm minimum fall at the back of our pool and we are going to use our spoil to create a pad all the way around the pool area and landscape (garden has to be a minimum of 1.25m from the water or you have to earth your fence as well and your bond beam) our batter will fall away from the fence line on the outside of the pool enclosure (if that makes sense, it does in my head , can't promise it will for anyone else) Re: GJ Gardner - Mandalay 298 - QLD 359Jun 13, 2017 2:17 am Tribe7 Hey Hazza, question for you, who did you get your pool through? Re: GJ Gardner - Mandalay 298 - QLD 360Jun 13, 2017 10:15 am Thanks tribe I get what you mean about the batter but I have no clue what you mean about earthing a fence! Why does a garden need to be more than 1.25 from the pool water?? I wanted one row of coping on one side then garden. May I ask why you chose not to use GJ Gardiner? I'm actually meeting with one of the sales guys tomorrow for an appointment. Definitely not signing anything yet… 3 9589 Hi all.
