Browse Forums Building A New House Re: DAH Build in Landsdale WA - BRICKS 83Jul 13, 2016 11:09 pm Hi JP. I've been flooded with work so haven't spent as much time here as I'd like. The build is going fabulously. Pete gets down a couple of times a week and then we go on Saturday and take a bunch of photos. Yesterday he rocked up to the block and our Colorbond was on!!! All the first fix is done, gutters and downpipes done and greyfloat should start next week. Since our brickwork was finished the site has been a flurry of activity. Our roof carpenters have been and gone, the render has gone on the garage (sadly, an estate requirement, otherwise we'd have had no render at all), all first-fix piping and electrical work has been done, the bricks have been cleaned (and will get another clean once we're closer to handover), all gutters and downpipes are on then last week we got our Colorbond moment!! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ My one regret - the colour of the gutters and downpipes - we had originally wanted Colorbond Woodland Grey which is a very dark grey but were talked out of it at pre-start and opted for what I'm now calling "Apologetic Grey" (aka Windspray). To me it's a bit of a blah colour but oh well, I'll live with it. Also, the downpipe on the rendered part of the garage will be getting painted so it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. We also had an independent building inspector through once our roof carpentry was completed and he said all work was of a high quality and everything met Australian Standards, so we're pretty happy with how things are going at the moment. Our grey float should be starting this week. Apologetic grey made me laugh! Time lost at the start because of missing door frame has been recovered Yes, thank goodness! I just hope they keep up this pace - I'm really looking forward to seeing the interior come together. You must be happy with the inspectors report. Very! I think it's just peace of mind as we know a few people who have built recently have had major problems. Apologetic grey made me laugh! I suppose it can be painted down the track so it's not quite so blah! Himself went to the block last night - grey float had been completed! What a great feeling when things happen quicker than expected! BTW, your roof looks great...even with the apologetic grey. Re: DAH Build in Landsdale WA - ROOF 96Jul 26, 2016 9:56 pm Update: Himself called in at the block this evening (too dark for photos unfortunately) and our interior ceiling is done, a/c ducting and electrical is in place and our beautiful colonial style window skirts are on! I can't wait to go over on Saturday and take pictures!!! The cornicing is in the garage ready to go on and the white float should follow closely. In other news - our current place is hitting the market in a week or so and I'm wetting myself that: 1. It won't sell at all (leaving us with a whopping debt) 2. It'll sell really quickly and we'll have to find a rental and move twice Which is the lesser of two evils???? Forgot to take inside pictures (too busy admiring the rooms which now feel like proper rooms) so there's only two outside photos today. We have them on the study windows overlooking the street and the theatre windows overlooking our secondary street - as we're on a corner it was a requirement that our "design features" be extended to the place where our return fence will be installed. I'm still really not loving the gutter and downpipe colour though.
