I'll take your word for it about the pastry oven - I can easily bake bread and cakes but pastries are something I haven't yet tackled! (Unless you count mince pies at Christmas!) I'll probably be sticking with the Westinghouse too, but then I'm not much of a cook! Your kitchen is going to be amazing. I'm the opposite to you in that I'm making sacrifices so I can have a bath in the ensuite. I want my bathroom to be a private retreat. (I share my current bathroom with 2 daughters.) You sound like you've spent a lot of time planning your choices Re: Dale Alcock Build in Cormbia, Landsdale WA 23Apr 28, 2016 11:23 pm Thanks Nelly. Yes, we spent a lot of time planning as this is going to be our very-long-term home so didn't want to have any major regrets. There is nothing better than a long soak in a big deep tub - I bet you can't wait until you can do that without anyone banging on the door! Last weekend, we arrived at the block to see that our drop footings (we have a slight slope - the back of the block is a little higher than the front) were in and the pre-lay complete! We rocked up today and there it was, glistening beneath a rare patch of sunshine..... It looks both huge and tiny at the same time (something I didn't actually think was possible.) We've checked the slab measurements and it's millimetre perfect. Needless to say, we're pretty chuffed. Conslabulations! We had a month between slab down and our brickies starting, so don't be stressed if it isn't two weeks, but awesome if it is Our Custom Dale Alcock build in the Village at Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78620 Re: DAH Build in Landsdale WA - SLABBED 29Apr 30, 2016 4:16 pm Thanks W2T. We received an email from DAH saying the slab will cure for 7-10 days. I got all excited and thought bricks would start then but re-reading the email in a slightly calmer frame of mind, it says that building materials will start arriving on site after the 7-10 days (PVC piping, soakwells, etc) and bricks will start some time after that. The wait is going to feel very long! We have two 1200mm diameter soakwells and a 900mm soakwell, all of which have now been buried under what will be our driveway and all stormwater piping has been done. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Then yesterday evening, we went to the block and found our site had been leveled out and all our bricks have been delivered. We are still awaiting the window frames and a pile of clean sand. We're hoping these will be delivered early in the week and by the time we visit the site next weekend, the brickie team will have started!! Haha, it protects them apparently. I've a friend that works for the brick company and I was a bit stressed that our bricks were a bit many - she then told me how the have a good side Our Custom Dale Alcock build in the Village at Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78620 Re: DAH Build in Landsdale WA - SLABBED 40May 17, 2016 6:23 pm Your slab looks great. How wonderful that you have permanent bushland opposite your block. Looking forward to see your build progress. Yes, I have. But, I haven't paid yet.
