Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 27, 2016 2:45 am Hi everyone, My partner and I have had a fantastic experience with Simonds in Adelaide and are close to completion with building the Sierra and due to have our keys in two weeks or so! Will be posting photos soon, hopefully in chronological order. Our build commenced on the first week of january, and fortunately enough we were one of the lucky ones who cannot fault simonds even being so close to the end of our first home journey. Our team from simonds Adelaide have been excellent with their consitant communication, addressing issues on the spot when vandalism/damage occured and they have always surpassed our expectations. Overall our house has been built over a period of 3.5-4 months, we've had really good weather throughout the whole build and they were super organised and on top of ordering all of the supplies. We acknowledge the fact that our amazing first experience is probably a unique case!! And probably won't happen again if we do decide to build again ? Hope you enjoy these photos and feel free to ask any questions! Re: Simonds Sierra - Adelaide, South Australia 2Apr 27, 2016 3:33 am Congratulations! The Sierra is a beautiful home. We built their Avalon at Golden Grove. Where did you build and which display home persuaded you ... Seaford or Blakesview? I heard Simonds have some display homes being built at St Clair (Woodville) another Avalon too, so I have to check that out. You're not the only one happy with the Adelaide Simonds team - I followed a few on here and that's what persuaded me. We were tossing up between the Metricon Elysian and Avalon. I'm glad we chose this one now, it's perfect for us. Lots of light and lovely energy flow. Re: Simonds Sierra - Adelaide, South Australia 3Apr 27, 2016 3:43 am TomCat Congratulations! My partner is obsessed with natural light and we couldnt turn away from the original Sierra display (recently been sold) in blakesview, the new sierra display home at blakes is absolutely stunning as well. We did about 4 months of research, we were originally going to build the Swansea by Hickinbotham and was also considering the Avalon by Weeks&Mac, but the first instance of us walking through the Sierra display home, we couldnt turn away! We do love the Avalon by simonds aswell! Congratulations! We were thinking that the avalon may be house number 2 for us! If we do decide to build again hahaha. .....now on to figuring out how to post photos here hmmm Re: Simonds Sierra - Adelaide, South Australia 4Apr 27, 2016 6:31 am Congratulations on hassle free building. mines about to start shortly so hoping it all goes well. We went with the Kew Facade, our window from the front was elevated up to the ceiling, and we chose cream aluminium windows Re: Simonds Sierra - Adelaide, South Australia 11Apr 27, 2016 11:33 am Sorry to bombard you with questions haha, which bricks did you choose? We also upgrade all of our internal doors to 2340, as we have a 2740mm as a regular ceiling height and then the cathedral upgrade ceilings as well. We thought it looked so much better visually on the inside. Does it cost much more to upgrade to floor to ceiling tiling? Re: Simonds Sierra - Adelaide, South Australia 18Apr 27, 2016 12:33 pm Marshall5858 Those dark bathrooms look very striking. Does it cost much more to upgrade to floor to ceiling tiling? Thanks!! The walls are a dark ceramic brown matte and the floor is a semi gloss porcelain latte. We have heat lamps in our bathrooms too which will make the bathrooms really warm and lovely, especially during the cold months of winter For both bathrooms it was an additional $3,718 in total for floor to ceiling tiling. Definitely worth the extra money we think ? Driveway and perimetre paving completed by Simonds, we paid the concreter directly to do our alfresco concrete which will eventually be a timber deck. We are also doing our own mainfloor tiling including the hallway to the bedrooms with 60x60cm porcelain tiles as shown in the pictures. Were so excited to put our furniture in, our main colours are white, timber, tan and copper.
