Long time since I have uploaded any pictures, its been a bit slow with progress, since weather in adelaide lately has been so horrid! But we are slowly getting some landscaping done! Our home is the Kew Facade and instead of doing render like we originally planned, we decided to tile the pillars with a gorgeous cream marbly tile ? were pretty happy with how they turned out. The deck was completed last week, still needs to be stained and varnished. hopefully we can get the whole front done by the next few weeks. Hope everyone has been well! Re: Simonds Sierra - Adelaide, South Australia 122Oct 10, 2016 3:38 pm All of it looks beautiful. I'm loving the tiles on the pillars, we too have been toying with that idea. Did it cost much to get the decking at the front done? I know the display homes have it and I just think it looks so nice. They did a fantastic job, it did cost us about 850 for all of the timber and another 95 for the nails and materials needed to make it. Luckily they had all of the tools needed, managed to get it all done over three days. We werent expecting to pay that much for it though since we were doing it ourselves so we were a bit shocked hahaha, but im guessing if that is how much it costs for the material then it'd be a bit pricey for the labour to hire people to do it. Its yet to be completed though, we still have to add on the planter box, got a huge pot from bunnings. Were trying to do something similar to this ? Great design for the front, it's gonna look fabulous Re: Simonds Sierra - Adelaide, South Australia 125Oct 10, 2016 6:45 pm Love it! Did you install the lights on the pillars yourself? I really want something like that - and the deck looks great- well done Re: Simonds Sierra - Adelaide, South Australia 126Oct 10, 2016 9:56 pm skinders78 Love it! Yeah they had to be installed by an electrician, lucky we have a really good friend who has helped us with all of our lights ? They were from bunnings! LED and Roughly 90 each, love them ? After exhausting days, levelling the soil ourselves, creating another planter box with more greenery and fitting in a undersoil irrigation system, it has been full on but we absolutely love how it all turned out. Were finally moving forward to working on our backyard, we have done our own levelling and soil removal, were now in the process of doing undersoil irrigation again and grass. Were also tiling our alfresco with 600x600 textured porcelain tiles, job booked for near end of this month. Plus were paving one section to create a barbeque hub for my partner hahaha. All for the aim to celebrate family christmas at our place ? Pressure is on! Fingers crossed!! You've excellent taste in design and colors!! Re: Simonds Sierra - Adelaide, South Australia 139Dec 01, 2016 3:56 pm Hi guys! Just doing an bit of an update of our backyard landscaping!
We have done our own lawn, we have two areas that we laid dwarf kikuyu. We used the company Paul Munns, they were great in pricing and also offered free delivery which was a bonus! We used a water roller hired from bunnings for $11 (with a $100 bond) and worked a treat! We also did a bit of timber restoration. As christmas will be at our place this year, we wanted to make sure we have plenty of furniture to accomodate. But this then comes with a price. I fell in love with a timber table and chair set at the store, the price was over 2,000 ?. I found the exact same table, it had lost its colour otherwise solidly sound for $100! All we did was sand it down, gave it three coats of varnish and it is now a beauty! We just need to buy chairs now ? The table seats a total of 10 people which is awesome. We also created a planter box in the corner of all of the lawn. We now have a cherry tree and a few australian natives. And are now in the process of tiling our alfresco area! The tiler we hired started today and has done a fantastic job, all that needs to be done tomorrow is grout and its finished! ? We bought tiles from Tile Wizard called Palazzo Perla, a very neutral textured tile, 600x600, grey with hints of marbly brown. We were originally going to do a timber tile although we were concerned about resale. Its an acquired taste and may be outdated in next years to come. So we stuck with our safest option, and we love the look of it! (If anyone is interested, I have about 10sqm left, selling them on gumtree! Haha) So now we are up to paving a section of the side to create a bbq hub for my partner and creating a feature wall with a water feature in the centre. Lots more to do but were trying to maximise our two small outdoor areas as much as we can ?
