Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Simonds Sierra - Adelaide, South Australia 144Dec 01, 2016 7:34 pm cmae.19 We have also cleaned all of our concrete. And are now in the process of tiling our alfresco area! The tiler we hired started today and has done a fantastic job, all that needs to be done tomorrow is grout and its finished! 😊 We bought tiles from Tile Wizard called Palazzo Perla, a very neutral textured tile, 600x600, grey with hints of marbly brown. We were originally going to do a timber tile although we were concerned about resale. Its an acquired taste and may be outdated in next years to come. So we stuck with our safest option, and we love the look of it! (If anyone is interested, I have about 10sqm left, selling them on gumtree! Haha) So now we are up to paving a section of the side to create a bbq hub for my partner and creating a feature wall with a water feature in the centre. Lots more to do but were trying to maximise our two small outdoor areas as much as we can 😊 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Wouldn't a timber deck make more positive impact in resale. Too many questions.. Re: Simonds Sierra - Adelaide, South Australia 145Dec 02, 2016 7:43 am Marshall5858 Love all of it. Great bargain with the table. We were going to eventually deck that area but after seeing your tiles, I think we may do that instead, at least that way we won't have to maintain tiles like we would have to with decking. Exactly our thoughts! ? Its hardwearing, wont discolour and practically no maintence yet still visually effective ? Thank you!! Xx Re: Simonds Sierra - Adelaide, South Australia 146Dec 02, 2016 7:49 am skinders78 Looks amazing ! Love it - well done - did the lawn out the back cost much ? I really want to attempt ours once it's ready to be done Thank you so much! The front yard was roughly 36sqm, we got that done professionally initially and thag costed us $570. For the back yard bit, it was over 40sqm, and to purchase it from paul munns it costed us about $310. We did buy top soil was well, but its about $40 or so per tonne. So we saved a bit doing it ourselves ? We laid the top soil a few days prior to laying the lawn, as the lawn gets delivered direct from the lawn farm as early as 6:45 in the morning, best time for it though as it gives you the morning to lay it all on the soil and then the rest of the day to be able to make sure you soak the grass with water at least twice. Too many questions.. Hahaha thats fine! Absolutely, timber decks always look amazing. We already have a deck at the front of the home that will need maintence as all timber decks do. We loved the idea of doing the tiles in the alfresco as its less maintence and will never discolour ? Re: Simonds Sierra - Adelaide, South Australia 148Dec 02, 2016 11:06 am Ok, so I'm gonna be cheeky and ask how much it was to tile that area? Ours will be similar if not the same as yours. Thanks, appreciate all your help and inspiration Re: Simonds Sierra - Adelaide, South Australia 149Dec 02, 2016 12:41 pm Marshall5858 Ok, so I'm gonna be cheeky and ask how much it was to tile that area? Ours will be similar if not the same as yours. Thanks, appreciate all your help and inspiration Hahaha thats no worries at all! It costed us $980 for the area to be tiled (labour and materials included). We purchased our tiles ourselves, they were also on sale for a great price, pretty sure we spent about $22 per sqm for them ? Tile wizards and lifestyles, in my opinion were the best with regards to pricing and quality of tiles! ? Oh and bare in mind, if there is a drain within the area like ours, you can actually purchase a new drain or use the same, I bought a lovely stainless steel one from tile wizards for $15 ? Looks so much nicer than the plastic ones. Re: Simonds Sierra - Adelaide, South Australia 150Dec 02, 2016 12:52 pm Thank you. We've not been in there so that's very handy to know and that's actually far less than I was expecting. That's great - very reasonable prices - I was thinking the lawns will cost a fortune but if you can do it yourself it's def more affordable Re: Simonds Sierra - Adelaide, South Australia 153Dec 02, 2016 3:47 pm Oh yes, that's much better did you get the top soil from the same people that you got the turf from? Re: Simonds Sierra - Adelaide, South Australia 154Dec 02, 2016 3:55 pm Marshall5858 Oh yes, that's much better did you get the top soil from the same people that you got the turf from? Thanks! ? We purchased our top soil from central districts loam co, on salisbury high way. They can deliver or you can simply bring a trailer in and they can load it up for you. I have also heard great things about Budget landscape and building supplies in sheidow park. I'm not 100% sure if Paul Munns supply top soil, but it would be surprising if they didnt hehe Re: Simonds Sierra - Adelaide, South Australia 155Mar 09, 2017 9:03 pm A few months along drom your last post - I can't believe I missed all this! Your home is great, what a beautiful result. And all your hard work afterward... the grounds look awsome. And you're the best looking couple as well!
