Hi Mate,
Ill be honest with you.
The builder should really depend on what you want.
I have gone through different builders and ended up with Blueprint and I can tell you that my general experience is really good and I will give you examples of why I think so.
-Speed is exceptional without a compromise to the build quality. When my slab was poured, I had a summit home next to me that was close to be locked up and other builders at a similar stage. Now, my house is at the same level as other houses in the estate if not a little bit ahead! The quality of the build is top notch.
-The customer service is exceptional. I had a senior consultant who was always available and despite many changes (and I mean MANY!) he was not pushy for us to sign up. Other builders they allow a certain degree of changes. The rep even helped us with negotiating on some of the blocks and he provided what I felt a genuine advice through out. He was always available for any question on his mobile, email or onsite even after I signed up.
-There were few issues in prestart and I was really happy with how they dealt with them. For example I was offered upgrades to Essastone for free as the colour I chose was discontinued! They also put in the garage entry door for free as a gesture of goodwill.
-There are small expected issues that came up here and there. Once I sent an email to the CLO, they are usually noted and attended within 24 hours!
If you would like my Consultant's details I can get you to meet with him. Have a look at my thread as well.
Other builders that I might consider myself, New Generation(summit) & Dale Alcock.
Ventura is on my black list. I noticed that their reps( at least the ones I met) have an attitude and arrogant. One of them thought that 250,000-260,000 is a low budget to build a 4x2! and clearly was not interested in the business! Well I built 4x3 for less than that.
