Browse Forums Building A New House Melbourne Airport Environs Overlay -Schedule 2 question 2Apr 19, 2016 5:27 am It's hard to say. As it depends on your location within the overlay. You'll need to get an acoustic report. We were going to build a double storey with Henley & they were going to charge us approx 60K to cover this. We changed builders & plan to a single storey. This added approx 25K. That builder went into liquidation though. Now building with Dennis family homes. Expect final costs thus week, but windows are costing 11K. I'll post our requirements as per the acoustic report later this morning. Any further things you can give me on this would be great. We built our first home with Dennis family homes. We have been in it for 15 years without so much as an issue. The build with them was a dream and is what is making us go back for round 2! However, with a different builder this time, I can only hope they will be as wonderful as I remember Dennis Family Homes being. Re: Melbourne Airport Environs Overlay -Schedule 2 question 4Apr 19, 2016 6:57 am Just confirming something Rondy- There are 2 schedules to this overlay. Schedule 1 is a heavier duty schedule meaning directly under the flight path. Schedule 2 overlay is a less severe one. Is your land under the Schedule 2 overlay? Re: Melbourne Airport Environs Overlay -Schedule 2 question 5Apr 19, 2016 9:56 am Yes we are schedule 2. House is 4km from both Melbourne & Essendon airports. Requirements differ depending on your house orientation, design & location etc. As an idea our requirements are: GLAZING Bedrooms - 6.76 laminated glass Living - 6.38 laminated glass or 6/8/4 double glazing (we've chosen double glazing) ROOF & CEILING Cement tiles 90mm trusses Min 100mm thick, 9kg/m3 acoustic insulation 2x13mm thick fire-rated plasterboard FACADE (brick veneer construction) 70mm brick 90mm stud Min 75mm thick, 9kg/m3 acoustic insulation 1x10mm standard plasterboard. We are also required to have minimal ceiling penetration. Glad you had a good experience with Dennis. They've been slow so far, but hopefully things should get moving slowly. We are going to be building in Avondale Heights. About 12km from Melb Airport and 7kms from Essendon Airport. I will look more into this with the builder to see how this will affect the build. Thanks again! Re: Melbourne Airport Environs Overlay -Schedule 2 question 7Oct 31, 2019 12:26 pm Dear members, we are sincerely looking at the KNRB for our old house and therefore need to understand more about the additional cost of being subject to MAEO schedule 2. Would appreciate if anyone can recommend any consultants who can provide acoustic report at a reasonable price. Thank in advance. I would love to know as we are a similar position Re: Melbourne Airport Environs Overlay -Schedule 2 question 9Oct 18, 2021 12:36 pm rondy Yes we are schedule 2. KDR Under the flight path (Dennis Family Homes) viewtopic.php?t=78618 Hi Randy, trying to get an understanding of airport overlay requirements. Regarding the windows/sliding doors was normal double glazing not enough to be acceptable for bedrooms? Was the 6.76 laminated glass a more expensive option than double glazing? Thanks Re: Melbourne Airport Environs Overlay -Schedule 2 question 10Jul 13, 2023 4:37 pm Does anyone know anything about the restrictions for a solar setup in the MAEO? I do enjoy the drama:-D In his latest two videos he has started bringing security guards to site, I am waiting for the punch on to begin lol 6 45543 It's all about wireless, self install now.
