Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 17, 2016 5:02 pm We are building a new house (in a new land release area) through Allcastle Homes and are contemplating putting a pool in. Has anyone done this and if so is it something you do before/ after the house is built? Do we as the home owners co ordinate it or do the builders? any advise would be appreciated:) Re: Building new house and contemplating a pool 2May 02, 2016 12:42 pm Hi there, I would think after? You'll need to run power to the pool pump etc....and you don't really have power during construction. I'm dealing with Allcastle now for a build....and I think it's safe to say that they won't co-ordinate the pool construction - why would they take on the accountability and risk? Re: Building new house and contemplating a pool 3May 03, 2016 4:20 pm Hi Deguzonthemove, have you had any quotes for pools yet? This is something we are also trying to decide. Financially we would like to do the pool later, but don't know if it will be a big headache that way? What size poool are you looking at? Re: Building new house and contemplating a pool 4May 03, 2016 9:49 pm You should think about the pool before finalising the house plans as the position may need additional piering for the house + you'll want power run to where you want the pool equipment + you'll want a service-free zone where you want the pool. Re: Building new house and contemplating a pool 5May 03, 2016 10:49 pm Agreed with Matt1 Definitely factor in the pool before your final plans are done if you can. With my builder if the pool is within 3 metres of the house then additional piering is required. Also logistically it is easier for the pool excavation and installation to occur before the house is built due to access issues. The pool builder will then cover the pool and surround it with temporary fencing until the house is built and then come back and finish it off after the house is finished.
