Also is there any room for negotiating prices/ upgrades etc? Did you do everything through the builder or hire your own contractors for certain things? Re: Building in S.A 3Apr 16, 2016 10:21 pm SA Housing is in with Statesman, Hickinbotham. They have displays next to them at a couple of the display villages we went to. It is really all confusing. Just try to get a couple of quotes and compare side by side. Once you realise that some builders include stuff, others don't, it really helps to work out which deal is better for you. We've got our concrete+driveway and floor coverings with a 3rd party The Aircon with the builder was a good deal for us so we got it with the builder. They will try and sell you upgrades, just be careful as to how much is already included, and what its really worth to you. They all have some margin to move in. That's good so you don't pick the 'cheapest' when no one wins -- builder or us because they have to cut corners to stay viable. It is confusing but you soon learn how it all works once you've had a good look around.
