Thanks Q, We also copied the idea from the display home.
Your wardrobe looks really good. are they from Metricon - Sydney shower screen and wardrobe?

Thanks, everything was from M. The only items we are getting done ourselves after handover, instead of through M, are the appliances and blinds.

We’re still edging ever so slowly towards PCI. But we would rather M does a quality job than to rush us to PCI

Some further rendering at the base of our front pylons:

A bit annoyed that the pendant lights above our island bench are not centered. Hopefully M can and will fix it:

Some carpet has already gone into the sitting room:

Quite impressed with our walk in robe for the master bedroom

Hi Kandi, some are double but most are single hanging.

As a distraction, we decided to re-check our blind colours and selections. It’s surprising how seeing the actual paint colours on the wall make such a difference.

This was our original choice:

We’ve now gone less brown and more grey as the walls are more of a light grey than beige:

We would have liked white but were worried about the dust and maintenance over time.

Also, as a side note, they’ve finally started doing the drainage, yay!

The only thing is that our mini floodlight seems to have been blocked out by the downpipe they put in

Thanks Kandi, our wall colour is Snowy Mountains. We are doing blinds post handover. The quote we got from M (via Lovelight) was ok but we ended up going with Luxaflex. I’m sure there are better value blinds people out there. (Just need to make sure they install properly cause M’a Wideline windows have protruding bits in their frames and stacker doors.)

Thanks Q, appreciate that.
After overthinking about the blinds again, we were worried that the blockouts would be too dark
So we changed the blockout colour to a much lighter colour so it blends in more with the walls

The build is progressing with the more painting done and the drainage completed.

Feature walls (Dulux Bearsuit) have been painted and looks quite nice in the family room. Although we’re not sure how well it turned out in our bedroom though cause we used an even darker colour (Dulux Namadji)

I would make the screen lighter and put a darker block out. It will let Light in better i reckon. And looks better. But that’s just me. As that’s what I have at this house I’m in now.

But house is looking great that feature walls looks like one of my feature walls colours. Except it’s called ploughed earth

Yeah, we couldn’t find a light grey sunscreen that we liked but we thought using the darker grey sunscreen was ok cause they will be in the entertainment areas where it is mainly light coloured and more open tiled areas.

The problem was with the blockout in the upstairs bedrooms where our carpet is dark. Having a dark coloured blockout then makes the room a bit too gloomy even with lights on.

Hopefully it’ll turn out ok

Are the going to paint the down pipes to match the colour of the brick?

Hope so, there’s still a bit of work left before we even get to PCI

Make sure you put every little thing on the PCI list, otherwise they won't want to address them before handover.

They use the PCI signed off to trigger the final payment

Another week and it looks like M is slowly but surely working its way to PCI. There was an issue with the carpet but we’ve been told it’s been resolved which is good. There’s still some painting, electrical works and carpeting before we’re done. We’d rather M try to get as much right as possible before PCI than to have to fix it up afterwards

In the meantime, we’ve finalised blinds and landscaping to be done post handover.

Hi Renman,

It was around $110k including driveway, stairs from our laundry door, watering system for the lawn, and some lighting. However it doesn’t include the long retaining wall on the left side as we did that at the start of the build for around $17k. Also, doesn’t include and boundary fencing or the electronic driveway gate that we had wanted but couldn’t afford
A lot of the trees in the back are existing trees which we have chosen to retain. The most expensive component is the front fence as it requires excavation and concrete footings

I feel your pain. I budgeted $150k for our landscape thinking it should be enough. Unfortunately we were so wrong, $185k later and we had to compromise on not getting wrough irons for our front fence and gate. This doesn't include the two side fence.

Back to the drawing board to reduce the cost

Can anyone recommend a good cheap landscaper
