Browse Forums Building A New House Metricon Liberty 45 in Ryde NSW 303May 30, 2017 10:50 pm Hi all, there has been some progress on our build in the last 2 weeks. The frames are up, guttering is there, some windows are in, and they are now preparing to get the roof on. M's roof tile supplier ran out of stock so they let us choose from some alternative tiles, which includes some terracotta ones. We ended up choosing the Bristile Planum in Caviar colour which was a close match to the Tungsten tiles we previously chose. In other news, our SM left us so our Construction Manager has taken over in the interim while he sorts out a new site manager. I'm not sure if that will slow things down or make it hard to rectify issues that were identified on our independent inspector reports. Will have to wait and see We also had some changes we wanted to make especially for electrical. Because we were in construction stage, M wasn't very happy about it. In the end, we had to pay the admin fee (the price for a lesson learnt) but we got some changes we really wanted like wall hung vanities to the bathroom, ensuite and powder room. We also get an electrical appointment next week to make all the electrical changes we want in 1 hit - just need to make sure we go well prepared this time round Metricon Liberty 45, Ryde NSW http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=82846 Build thread: Metricon Liberty 45 in Ryde, NSW Re: Metricon Liberty 45 in Ryde NSW 304May 31, 2017 10:46 am Looking good Q. Sux about the admin fees, but I think in the long run as long as you're getting what you want in the end, it'll be worth it. Re: Metricon Liberty 45 in Ryde NSW 311Jun 02, 2017 8:35 pm Renman QM, Sorry to hear about the SM. Are you able to list the changes and the admin fee attached to them? We paid $1500 admin fee and in return they allowed us do change our bathroom vanities to wall hung, tiles under the stairs and a electrical appointment. Most of our changes were electrical so it was good they just gave us time with the electrical people again cause making changes by email would be too hard. The electrical changes we wanted include: extra speaker cables, data points, cabling for security cameras, moving the data termination points from the sitting room to the garage (it seemed like a good idea to have the data points terminate somewhere central in the house), extra power points, height of light switches at 1300mm vertical, moving our NBN termination point to the other side of the garage, changes to number of phone lines, led lights.. Hopefully we'll get our electrical right this time round. I think it's the most technically difficult out of all the appointments to get right Metricon Liberty 45, Ryde NSW http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=82846 Build thread: Metricon Liberty 45 in Ryde, NSW Re: Metricon Liberty 45 in Ryde NSW 312Jun 02, 2017 8:41 pm Quirmeball1280 Renman QM, Sorry to hear about the SM. We had to have our speaker cables done by an external company! M wouldn't do them! It's also because we are using brick and they can't cut half a brick horizontally - you should have more flexibility if you use hebel. Vista had no issue putting 12-18 windows to the back I think. There's a few ways of doing it I think - we had a similar issue. You can increase the height of the 1st floor to 2550mm, reduce the eaves from 600mm to 450mm, reduce the angle of the roof elevation, or a combo of all of the above. They should be able to add a 10-18 window at the back cause it's already reduced from the larger 12-18 window.
