Colour Selection

Feels like hardest part of the building process..

I am about to start building my first home and fall in love with Black diamond brick the first time I saw it. So decided to go with black diamond brick with a light colour colorbond roof.

I am thinking of Vinyl (Rustic Oak) and carpet for the interiors.

I am not sure about the rest of the colours (internal and external). Any tips and help will be much appreciated. I have an appointment with the colour consultant late this week.

I would suggest going through pictures online and save the images you like. I looked at a lot of display homes and real estate listings and saved pictures if what I liked. It made the decision process much easier.

You will more than likely find a common theme developing in your saved pictures

I did the colours on Friday.. What do you think of my choice(s)..

Floor - Nordic Oak (Vinyl) and Desert Echo pacific (Carpet)
Ceiling - Greyology 1
Internal Wall - Pale Mushroom 1
External - Black diamond brick
Kitchen Benchtop - Essa stone - French Nougat
Kitchen cabinet - Burnished wood natural finish
Ensuite - Carrara Bianco Natural Finish
Ensuite cabinet - 'Pillarbox' natural finish (taking a risk there I guess)
Ensuite floor - Lifestyle ice grey

Window - Monument
Roof - Windspray
Gutter - Windspray
Fascia - Monument
Garage door - Monumnet
Front door - Stained Haymes ' Jarrah'

Please let me know if you feel some of these colours won't work together.

I like your bench tops, wall colour and exterior colours. I like a dark exterior. Your ensuite and bathroom cabinetry is bold. It's actually refreshing to see someone stray away from neutral colours.

Hi,
Is there a website to test the colour choices? Something like Boral has http://www.boralsampler.com.au/
but showing the front of the house and we could apply colours to the portico, front door, garage door, bricks and etc..

As suspected I think the overall look will be quite dark. What colour are the two columns and the supporting beam?

I am yet to choose a colour for the 2 columns (only bit pending I guess

). I am thinking of a cream shade like this http://www.farrow-ball.com/farrow's%20c ... uct/100067.

There will be a timber paneling on top of the portico (it not in the elevation diagram)

What do you think if I go with a colour similar to this http://www.humedoors.com.au/products/en ... nge/xn6#94 (Matching the colour with the timer paneling on top of the portico) for the Main door and Garage?

Is it the maple colour you're referring to?

I think the creamy yellow colour is an odd choice with those bricks. Windspray for the roof and gutters is a cool tone, which is fine for the bricks.

I might agree with you. I am thinking the same that the front of the house might look darker and I am trying to add some colours to the front door, garage door and portico columns...but I am not sure what colour should I go for...

Any neutral or cool colour.

Who told you that? I prefer to see fascia match gutters or be a light contrast colour. Especially for single level homes. It helps define the roof line.

I like the Black diamond brick but it is dark or not depends on the angle I guess. I am posting few pictures below. Even the Selkirk website shows different tones http://www.selkirk.com.au/index.php/ext ... etail.html.
This is the reason I decide to go with bit darker roof, gutter and fascia..
I tried the colour choices in a website and I can see it will look nice if Fascia is bit lighter in colour than the gutter colour rather than darker. I am definitely changing the Fascia colour.
