Takes more care and time, hence the wxtra charges. Would love to see more pics, see how she's coming along We're in love with the daydream but want to swap/reconfigure/ some rooms_ If it's not too much to ask, how much were your modifications? Pantry, bathR, ensuite, study french doors etc.. Thanks. We have been in for about 5 weeks and have been busy doing bits and pieces. I'll try to take some pics and post them soon. As for all the modifications, I've taken a couple of screen shots from our tender to give you an idea, but it's hard to give an accurate figure without going through all the colour selections and variations to see what they added. We found the prices for just about everything we modified and/or upgraded were fairly reasonable compared to the same upgrades with other builders our friends had used. It's a great plan. We love how the house works, which is fortunate considering the painful process they put us through. The quality of finish is pretty ordinary, but you notice it less each day, and so far the maintenance crew has addressed our initial irks. We'll have quite a list for them at the 3 month inspection, so hopefully that continues. Good luck with it all. Hi Ryalls, yes we got a refund for the extra laying costs associated with rectified edge tiles. They used normal 3.5mm spacers and no levelling clips instead of 2mm spacers and levelling clips. In other words, they laid them the same as any other tile. Looks ok, but we didn't want to pay for a finish we didn't get. Our thread: viewtopic.php?t=82814
They have used from what i can tell 3mm spacers on ours too... How did you go about fighting it?
If you pm me your email, I'll forward the one I sent to them. It has pics etc so you can get an idea of what worked for us. I just wanted to ask a question about the bath hobs. I had a look in our bathrooms today for the 1st time since our baths have been installed and noticed that a tile missing off the bath hobs and a big hole in the sheeting. I am assuming they must have needed access inside or something to install the bath. I have just noticed a pic of yours where the same thing has been done. I am wondering about how they re sheet and more importantly how they re waterproof the section that has all been damaged? I hope you had a lovely Chrissie in you beautiful new home. Re: Coral Homes Daydream 30ish 199Dec 29, 2016 6:03 pm Yep the same thing happened with ours. We also assumed it was so the plumber could access during final fit off. As for the waterproofing, I'm not really sure as there was a hole there one day and a tile the next. In my old pictures the side of the bath hob wasn't entirely coated with waterproofing, just the joins and corners so, provided the hole in the villaboard was patched (no guarantees there) there shouldn't be any issues in the future. Besides, in our experience, there's a greater chance of water damage occuring due to failed/poorly installed plumbing fittings than what may seep through tiles. Seems like it must be a common thing. Wonder why they go to the effort of tiling it just to destroy it again. !! Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13745 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 1765 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74688 |
