Browse Forums Building A New House Re: KDR Rawson Benham in Sydney 62May 27, 2016 8:30 pm We've had another productive week. Our frames and roof trusses are up, which we're pretty happy about! We squeezed through the fence with some friends last weekend and had fun picturing where the kitchen cupboards would go and planning the furniture. Today the window frames were delivered and I'm looking forward to seeing them installed. Sadly, today we also got the email we've been expecting - the dreaded 'there's going to be a delay while we wait for the brickies' message. SS says 'short delay' so I'll be interested to see what that means. How long did you wait for bricks? I am already feeling impatient and we're not even ready for bricks yet (although I think that's because some of the next steps are being dragged out so the delay feels shorter.) Re: KDR Rawson Benham in Sydney 65Jun 07, 2016 8:42 pm I'm a bit behind with the updates. Our windows and glass doors went in about a week ago (pics were drive bys so they're a bit blurry) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our plumbing rough in has now been done too, after a hasty check in from our SS about the orientation of our bath, which for some reason was backward on the plans. Glad he picked it up or we would have been hitting our heads on the tap. Now we're on hold till bricks start. We're apparently next after the SS's preferred brickie finishes another job. He reckons two week wait at worst but with so many people waiting so much longer, I'm preparing myself to wait longer. http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82770&p=1531839#p1531839 Re: KDR Rawson Benham in Sydney 66Jun 07, 2016 8:48 pm And here are some pics of what our site looked like on the weekend - several swimming pools in the backyard! It's hard to see but we practically had a moat around the slab. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Here's what the reserve behind our place looked like - river views! Just got out weekly update from our SS and he's got bricks delivered today with brickie to start on Tuesday. I'm so excited and can't wait to see how it looks - this will be the first time we'll see one of our selections used. Hope we still like them! http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82770&p=1531839#p1531839 Re: KDR Rawson Benham in Sydney 68Jun 12, 2016 5:04 pm How great is it to see such good progress after what seems like an interminable pre-build process? Hopefully it will dry out a bit this week. We took a look upstairs (not that there are any stairs yet!) and we're going to have some lovely views across the reserve, including a jacaranda that lines up nicely with our bedroom window. Can't wait for bricks to start tomorrow! Hope it maintains this pace! We're up to site supervisor number 5 as well as the construction manager now involved with our build. The amount of things that need to be redone on my build is shocking. Credit to the new SS and CM. They have addressed all my issues and we're slowly starting to move forward again. Very frustrating!!! A little hitch here or there but he's been very responsive. How far through your build are you now? Fingers crossed for smooth sailing from here on. http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82770&p=1531839#p1531839 Re: KDR Rawson Benham in Sydney 73Jun 13, 2016 9:25 am We're at 39 weeks and no PCI date yet. There's still heaps to go. Unfortunately they're fixing tiling issues, shower screen issues, underfloor heating issues, hebel issues, internal door issues and the list goes on! My house has brought incompetence to a new level! Keep a close eye on all aspects of your build. Re: KDR Rawson Benham in Sydney 74Jun 19, 2016 8:52 am Our brickwork got started this week. After the bricks were delivered we took over our sample to see how they compared and the delivered batch did look a little different so we were a bit worried, but now they have started I'm really happy with how they look. Apparently they're going to finish the first level then they're going off to start another job before coming back to finish our job, so I guess it's going to take a bit longer than we hoped. Even so, I'm feeling good about progress so far. The plus side of low expectations! Here's a little look at our bricks. It's so disappointing when you're told something will happen and then it doesn't. Our weekly update did say our brickies are off next week, so I guess they could still be coming to your place.
