Same lines we said and we are the fussy type as well. We're relieved that chapter is finished for us and we are moving on and enjoying our home. But for us, it's a one way trip, never again shall we do any type of build - not worth the stress. Unless of course we win lotto Re: KDR Rawson Benham in Sydney 23Apr 22, 2016 4:54 pm Well it's been another uneventful week for us. We got some fence signage and that's about it. Slab time is worth the wait. Best ever. Followed closely by frames, then bricks... Hahaha. We went to the display at homeworld yesterday to have a look at the size of the furniture in the house. I was in the kitchen and started wondering how our wall run was symmetrical (one set of drawers either side of the oven) but the one in the display wasn't (right side bigger than left). So we pull out the tape measure and discover the wall run in the display home kitchen is 500 mm longer than what's in our plans. No one had ever suggested that that wall run was an upgrade so it never occurred to us that it would be any different to what's in the display. We spoke to the sales guy at kellyville and he assured us that while the island was upgraded, the 3.5m wall run was standard. He pulled out his list of upgrades for the display and there's no mention of the wall run. Of course he then looked at the base plans and yes they are different, but if their own people can look at those plans every day and not notice it, what hope do regular plebs have? Sales guy says neither he nor the other sales guy there has ever mentioned that wall run to any customer as an upgrade and they have always assumed it was a standard length. We also discovered our island is shorter and skinnier than the one in the display. The bigger island is an upgrade and we knew that, and all along we have been asking for our island to be the same size as the one in the display. Of course we discover this on the first day of the long weekend so it will be at least a few days before we can even speak to anyone. I am Extremely Not Pleased. http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82770&p=1531839#p1531839 Re: KDR Rawson Benham in Sydney 27Apr 24, 2016 3:32 pm Our Benham is supposed to be identical to the display and I mean identical! Unfortunately, there are still differences that we pick up along the way. My recent dilemma are the shower niches. I didn't even think that the display ones would be different to mine as I didn't ask for them to be changed, but guess what, they're heaps smaller. The answer, it's too late now! I'm over it! Re: KDR Rawson Benham in Sydney 29Apr 24, 2016 3:43 pm That sucks, Jimbo. What's so hard about 'exactly the same'? I can see why you're so over it. We actually didn't go to the display intending to compare plans, it was pure happenstance that we picked up the discrepancy. I'm glad we found it now because I really do not want to settle for a kitchen that is smaller than we expected. I really do believe this is rawson's screw up - even the sales guy was stunned and encouraged us to pursue it. I imagine I'm going to be picking battles throughout this whole process. This is one I will take on because it's the kitchen and the kitchen is why we chose that house. Since we're only just on site I am sure they can rectify - it will be a matter of how long it takes and who wears the cost. http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82770&p=1531839#p1531839 Re: KDR Rawson Benham in Sydney 30Apr 24, 2016 3:52 pm Hi red. If it's external dimensions that need to be increased then you may have further delays as it may need to go back to hills council. Insist on getting a copy of the display plans, with dimensions, to scale! using Tapatalk Edge39.my-letter-box.com Re: KDR Rawson Benham in Sydney 31Apr 24, 2016 3:53 pm External dimensions are right but one window will have to move 500mm which is probably going to be a pain because I believe frames have already been ordered (though who knows really). http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82770&p=1531839#p1531839 Re: KDR Rawson Benham in Sydney 32Apr 24, 2016 4:00 pm I think the sales people don't know everything either. I upgraded my kitchen to be exactly as the display. It was a $25,000 upgrade. The sales person told me I get exactly what I see. When I went for my colour appointment, I found out that I had to fork out another $6,000 to get the same colour caesar stone and gloss cabinetry. Oh and the white colour over head cupboards cost extra because we changed colour from the majority of the rest of the kitchen. Started at $370,000 ended at $550,000 to look like the display! Re: KDR Rawson Benham in Sydney 33Apr 24, 2016 4:05 pm That is defined true - that the sales guys don't know everything. But if they make an appointment to show you through the house to point out all the upgrades and they don't say 'hey, that stretch of cupboards is longer than standard' then the natural assumption is that what you see is what you get. To be honest, I'm more or less okay with paying for the extra bench and cupboard space (kind of, as I do feel misled) but I will not be happy if they try to charge us post-contract variation and plan redraw fees. We'd have made these changes at the outset if we'd known we needed to. Did the longer wall run get listed as an upgrade in your colours variation? Did anyone point it out to you as an upgrade? I actually just think it's a mistake, not really anyone's fault - someone just forgot to write it on the upgrade list - but I don't want to pay for that error. http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82770&p=1531839#p1531839 Re: KDR Rawson Benham in Sydney 34Apr 24, 2016 4:23 pm red15 Did the longer wall run get listed as an upgrade in your colours variation? The longer benches did get mentioned. Re: KDR Rawson Benham in Sydney 36Apr 26, 2016 10:08 am Just got a response from Rawson: "Thank you for your email. I have arranged for management to look into this for you and they will be in contact." I hope this means 'referred to someone who can sort it out' and not 'referred to someone who can bring the fight to you'. I really don't want this to be a fight, I just want it fixed. Rawson has actually been pretty good to deal with so far with a few other things that have cropped up so I am hoping we can sort this quick and get back to building our house. Re: KDR Rawson Benham in Sydney 37Apr 26, 2016 10:20 am Hi Red, hope they help you out. Is it incorrect (different to the display home) on your plans as well? Rawson Edge 39 MKI in Ryde, Sydney KDR Rawson Benham in Sydney 38Apr 26, 2016 10:26 am I believe they should be able to sort it out. If the actual dimensions of the house haven't changed, the frames can be modified on site to suit your requirement. The question is, who'll foot the bill. I can't believe they expect us to go through the plans and pick up their mistakes. I found heaps! Some before and some after. Fortunately, they were easily fixed. Push hard to get what you want Red. Re: KDR Rawson Benham in Sydney 39Apr 26, 2016 10:34 am Bavshan, it is wrong in our plans and I totally get that we signed those plans, but seriously, short of taking a tape measure to the display to measure every wall, door, window and cupboard, how would we ever know it was not the same unless they told us? Jimbo, yes, I agree, I don't think it's that hard to fix, just a matter of time and money, like everything. I'll suck it up if we have to pay the actual upgrade costs but I don't want to pay any admin fees and I honestly am not keen for it to put our build on hold, though I am sure it will. Re: KDR Rawson Benham in Sydney 40Apr 26, 2016 11:01 am Question for those of you who have run into issues - what have you found is the best path to resolution? I would prefer not to be a thorn in anyone's side so I am trying to be friendly and understanding but I wonder if I should be more demanding from step one (I also have this underlying fear that if we're difficult they'll ditch us - is that just paranoia?). Just started the Build process for Chifley 42 with Rawson homes, will keep you all posted with the Build progress. 0 2452 We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37143 The biggest challenge will be if you take out a loan and then run out of money - you'll have an incomplete security and lenders do not like this so you can get stuck.… 2 19108 |
