Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 07, 2016 5:15 pm I've read through many threads over the last few days and I have decided to share my own building process with those that may be interested. My partner and I sold our Port Bouvard (Mandurah) home in October and secured a large green patch of land in Waroona. We knew we wanted to build the second (knowing what we did/didn't want) and in December 2015 we decided to build with Home Group WA, (our list of builders was minimal due to many not building in the Waroona area), we chose the Bordeaux plan and slightly changed it to suit us Tile and laminate meeting - 16Mar Received a nice little pot plant from Home Group - 6Apr Pre start - 27Apr Approved Building Permit received from the Shire of Waroona - 14Jun Earthworks commenced - 27Jun Slab - 26Aug Brickwork commenced -10Sep ** I haven't kept this up to date ** but the building process took just over 12 months. I have found this forum to be very resourceful and I hope as we proceed with this build that I can contribute in the same way We sold our Port Bouvard home in October and secured a large green patch of land in Waroona. I've just had a look at your build and wow yes the bathroom is so very similar! Our original plans (The Bordeaux) didn't have this bathroom, so I was happy when we managed to incorporate it - mainly the freestanding bath into our plans I'm looking forward to seeing your end result!! If so do you mind telling me what they are charging? Hi, yes we are, we enquired around and there wasn't much difference in prices, HG are charging us $2400 for the stone cladding feature pillar. If so do you mind telling me what they are charging? Hi, yes we are, we enquired around and there wasn't much difference in prices, HG are charging us $2400 for the stone cladding feature pier That seems reasonable, HG wanted nearly $10000 for some stone work probably twice as big as yours from us. Have you considered making your lounge and dining windows full height, since you're on a nice big block to look out on. Re: First time builders, Home Group WA 14Apr 09, 2016 4:06 pm sandy19 Also if you increase the bed 1 ceiling to 28 core, elevation will be much taller? Just my thoughts... Yeah thanks for that. Have just told my partner and he thinks that's a good idea.. As first time builders and second home owners, it's good to hear others ideas and opinions. Any advice would be great! Ask for the costings for all the upgrades, then you can walk away and have a think of what you want/what goes well together etc. We got costings for everything (came to $61k) then worked our way down to $23k.
