I had no idea they could do that! And I'll keep this post updated with progress now that I finally got around to doing it. Re: Building in Shorehaven, Alkimos with Ideal Homes 4Mar 27, 2016 12:05 pm Wow, your floor plan is awesome loving the spa and WIR in bed 1 and the gym! Loving your selections! I will be choosing very similar to what you I have I think... Although I am doing selections in June and I keep changing my mind daily so who knows Your build seems to be going up fast! Looking forward to following Re: Building in Shorehaven, Alkimos with Ideal Homes 5Mar 27, 2016 12:27 pm charlibear Wow, your floor plan is awesome loving the spa and WIR in bed 1 and the gym! Looking forward to following Thanks Charliebear I know exactly what you mean about changing your mind constantly before prestart selection I'm glad everyone thinks that our build is going so quickly too as it seems like such a long time ago since we started, and we just can't wait to be in our new house now. Re: Building in Shorehaven, Alkimos with Ideal Homes 6Mar 27, 2016 2:11 pm I'm dreading the time between selections and build as it will be 4 months How did you choose your flooring? That is what I'm struggling with the most Re: Building in Shorehaven, Alkimos with Ideal Homes 7Mar 27, 2016 2:14 pm charlibear I'm dreading the time between selections and build as it will be 4 months How did you choose your flooring? That is what I'm struggling with the most We had a pretty good idea of what we wanted. We have dogs so wanted a durable hard floor but not tiles as they feel a little cold. The best part was that we saw apt he Ideal Homes display home that we absolutely loved most of the colours in, so based a lot of selections on that. We also went around to heaps of Sorrento display homes to get plenty of ideas and take photos. Re: Building in Shorehaven, Alkimos with Ideal Homes 8Mar 27, 2016 2:37 pm Do you have timber flooring or laminate? We are going to get 2 rescue dogs once our house is built so I'd like something sturdy but I cannot make up my mind, today I am liking a concrete look tile lol but tomorrow I'll probably like laminate again My biggest problem is we haven't been to any displays so time poor. We plan to go check out a couple in Brissy in May Re: Building in Shorehaven, Alkimos with Ideal Homes 9Mar 27, 2016 3:33 pm charlibear Do you have timber flooring or laminate? We plan to go check out a couple in Brissy in May We've gone with laminate as that is very hard wearing. We have laminate floors in our current home and that's great with the dogs and doesn't scratch at all. Very easy to look after. Re: Building in Shorehaven, Alkimos with Ideal Homes 10Mar 27, 2016 4:37 pm That's handy to know, the laminate is durable. I am worried about cleaning it though, apparently you can't use water on it, like steam mopping? Re: Building in Shorehaven, Alkimos with Ideal Homes 11Mar 27, 2016 8:13 pm charlibear That's handy to know, the laminate is durable. I am worried about cleaning it though, apparently you can't use water on it, like steam mopping? I've never used a steam mop on the laminate floors that we have now, but I do use a damp mop. I think it's only an issue if the laminate stays wet. I tend to mop then do a bit of a crazy dance around the house on a towel to dry it off Re: Building in Shorehaven, Alkimos with Ideal Homes 12Mar 28, 2016 8:22 am Hahaha loving the crazy dance!! You'll never guess what, I'm liking laminate today haha... Oh gosh, how will I ever make up my mind... My husband is set on tiles who knows what we will choose. Have you had any rain over the Easter weekend? Hopefully your tradies can get straight back into business tomorrow! We had quite a bit of rain over but today is gorgeous so hopefully they'll be back into it tomorrow Re: Building in Shorehaven, Alkimos with Ideal Homes 15Mar 29, 2016 5:54 pm Hopefully you had tradies onsite today Moggi! It was beautiful weather in Northern NSW. My husband informed me today that he will be building a shed after handover to convert into a gym Today was great, we visited the block for the first time in 1.5 months. We also met with my old boss on the block to get a fencing quote and he said they would do it for me at cost price, winning! We included a heap more than what we originally planned like stone to all benches and water fall edges to the island, such a small step in the scheme of thing but I feel like it's a start Re: Building in Shorehaven, Alkimos with Ideal Homes 16Mar 29, 2016 6:13 pm I don't think anything will be happening on the block today as we've reached palte height, and I'm just waiting on the building inpection report to come back before I pay up and move to the roof frame stage. Nice idea about building a shed for the gym... no excuses now Re: Building in Shorehaven, Alkimos with Ideal Homes 17Mar 29, 2016 7:07 pm Moggi Nice idea about building a shed for the gym... no excuses now No excuses here Moggi, I'm up at 3.30am every morning to go to the gym but when we move out to the house once it's done, it's going to be a 20 min drive on rural roads to go to the gym so a home gym is really my only option Ask for references and speak to them.
